Position Title: Alternative Program Director

Terms of Employment: 210 days per year

Qualifications:
       Masters Degree in Education
       Minimum three years of experience in an alternative education environment
       Supervisory position preferred

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent

Supervises:
      Alternative Program Teachers
      Alternative Program Paraprofessionals
      Other Special Education Specialists assigned to the program

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of
the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.

Job Goal:
To implement and maintain an alternative program to provide services for any student
who needs a non-traditional learning environment, and o targeted and promote student
achievement in an alternative setting.

Performance Responsibilities:
      Work independently under program approval guidelines
      Supervise and monitor all staff involved in the program
      Coordinate operations among alternative school programs within the district
      Ensure academic success for all students in meeting the district objectives
      Collaborate effectively with others (school personnel, district administrators,
       parents, students, community
      Perform personnel functions ( interviewing, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for
       the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of
       personnel and achieving objectives
      Participate in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying
       and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
      Meet regularly with staff
      Work with others to problem solve and to create and monitor action plans
      Coordinate all student meetings
      Function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
      Maintain documentation of curriculum manual, professional development,
       DCYF filings, special education records and student progress
      Recommend an operating budget for the program and supply supporting
       documentation
   Maintain an emotionally healthy environment conducive to the educational
    needs of students and staff
   Provide direct supervision of program staff
