Exempt PLEASE POST – POSITION #795 JOB OPPORTUNITY TITLE: Assistant Director of K-12 Outreach (4-Year Assignment), Grade 810 DEPARTMENT: Academic Affairs DATE OF POSTING: 4/5/04 REPORTS TO: Director of K-12 Outreach CLOSING DATE: Until filled BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for Project Lead the Way (PLTW) affiliate programs at WPI and a new K-5 literacy program. Promoting these programs, developing and delivering plans and programs, and working with the teachers and students involved with these programs. Coordinate with and support other K-12 initiatives within the K-12 Office. This position is a four-year assignment and will end June 2008. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 50% - Oversee all aspects of the PLTW program including attending content workshops, planning and delivering workshops, working with local PLTW schools, and helps with recruiting teachers and funding for the program. 40% - Develop, manage and direct a new program in basic literacy at the K-5 level. 10% - Work with the Director of K-12 on integration and support of these programs with others. REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree or higher in science, life science, mathematics or engineering. Experience working with K-12 teachers. 1-5 years experience in K-12 programs. Willingness and ability to travel. Ability to manage projects. Organized and detail-oriented. Good communication skills, written and oral. WPI offers a smoke-free environment.
