MINUTES OF JANUARY 20, 2009 MEETING

I. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Ken Hickman
II. Ken introduced Bart Stepp, Engineer for the City of La Center. Bart gave a presentation on
the traffic calming project plan, outlining the various methods available, the city’s process for
evaluating the need, data analysis, and the HOA responsibilities for implementing this plan.
He provided the board members with handouts to review and answered questions from the
board and guests.
III. Minutes of the board meeting for Oct. 21, 2008 were reviewed and approved as written.
IV. Financial Report: The financial report was reviewed and accepted.
A. Dues: Troy reported that he will be filing 11 liens for outstanding dues.
V. Committee Reports:
A. CC& R’s:
1. Ken explained his health limitations with regard to managing CC&R violations.
The board members agreed to assist him in contacting homeowner’s with CC&R
violations or complaints from neighbors.
2. Ken read an email from Jason and Katrina Cross, 541 E 11th Court regarding their
complaint of an offensive compost pile in the neighbor’s yard. Board member Jim
Grimard will check with the homeowner regarding the complaint.
VI. Old Business:
A. Christmas lights contest winners: 1249 E Pioneers (Eddy’s), 2nd – 744 E Heritage Loop
(Crismon’s), 3rd – 482 E Heritage Loop (Lane’s).
B. Update on wetlands project: Jim Grimard, SVH HOA representative to the wetlands
project committee gave a report. They will be doing a walk around with a biologist and
microbiologist at a future date.
C. La Center Centennial update: Ken reported on the progress of the centennial committee
which is moving forward with their plans and getting funding for the event. They are
looking for organizations within the city to participate by taking on certain aspects of the
celebration. “Our Days” will continue along with the centennial celebration. There will be a
twilight parade this year as well as fireworks in August.
VII. New Business: There was no new business.
Next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2009.
