A web-enhanced course is a classroom-based course that has, as required support material, an instructor-created web page used weekly by all students in the course. It is strongly recommended that students enrolling in Web-
enhanced courses have their own access to a computer and the Internet. Students should have competency in accessing and using e-mail and the World Wide Web.
An on-line e-course refers to a course which does not require the physical presence of the student in a traditional classroom. The students complete most of the course requirements on the World Wide Web through the use of an
instructor-created web page and web interaction such as chat rooms, e-mail, or other forms of interactivity. Students may be required to go to a specified site for examination or other course-related purposes. It is required that students
enrolling in an E-course have their own access to a computer and the Internet. Students should have competency in accessing and using e-mail and the World Wide Web. Additional information on e-courses is also available on the
Web at http://www.hpu.edu/ecourses/.
A First Year Seminar (FYS) is a special section of a general education course designed to engage students in reflecting on global citizenship while incorporating international perspectives on the course subject matter as well as co-
curricular experiences. These courses, offered only in the Fall, are reserved for new freshmen, limited to 15 students each, and include activities designed to orient students to the HPU community and to college life.
A Global Learning course (GL) is a special section of a general education course designed to engage students in reflecting on global citizenship while incorporating international perspectives on the course subject matter as well as co-curricular experiences.
A Hybrid Course (HY) is a course that combines traditional classroom meetings with on-line course work. Both the classroom meeting time and the OL designation appear in this schedule, and both will appear on the student’s
individual schedule. Students must be able to attend the class meetings at the times listed in this schedule and prepared to complete other course requirements as described above for on-line e-courses.
