FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ETI Tech Completes R&D on Nano Mobile Charger Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah D.A. – 20 June 2006 – The research and development efforts on an ultra light-weight portable power bank has finally paid-off with the completion of ETI Tech’s Nano Mobile Charger. ETI Tech expects to launch the mobile charger commercially within this financial quarter. The Nano Mobile Charger was developed in line with the concept of providing power continuity for your telecommunication devices. ETI Tech’s Nano Mobile Charger is designed to meet mobile devices’ growing need in power requirements and power continuity. It is intended for users that are constantly on the move. The Nano Mobile Charger can charge a wide range of mobile phones from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, Siemens as well as personal digital assistants from O2, Dopod, HP, BenQ, MP3 players from Apple’s iPod Nano and portable gaming and media players such as Sony’s PSP. Depending on the model, it can fully charge a mobile phone up to three times. The rubberized casing provides a feel-good grip and enhances the shock protection of the charger. Its high power capacity and slim design is inline with the trend among mobile phone manufacturers to have the slimmest phones on the market yet still rich in functions, performance excellence and design innovation. A multiple connector is provided so that it can be used across a wide range of mobile phone models. With only 75g in weight and no larger than a typical mobile phone, the Nano is suitable for road warriors as you can continue to charge the electronic device while on the move. Users with a notebook computer can charge a Nano using the the USB port. The Nano Mobile Charger product was developed out of necessity. The Directors of ETI Tech felt that with the continued growth in the number of mobile devices, gaining popularity of 3G phones, PDAs, gaming and media players, it was timely to develop a mobile charger that could provide power continuity to its users. Gartner Dataquest estimated that for just the mobile phones segment, about 674 million units were produced globally in 2004. About 779 and 848 million units are estimated to be produced in 2005 and 2006. This number is expected to grow even higher to more than 1.0 billion units in 3 years by year 2009. “We foresee huge growth potential for this market segment. And we will continue to develop more products to meet this growth in demand. We expect Nano to fill in the gap for now” says Dennis Chuah, the Business Development Director of ETI Tech. The Nano Mobile Charger is developed based on the latest technology using Lithium Polymer battery cells with ETI Tech’s proprietary energy management system. The PLi cells when used in combination with the energy management system gives the Nano the high capacity ultra light weight characteristics. The Nano is among the first few of the products to be developed at ETI Tech’s new R&D Centre. In line with this new development, the management of ETI Tech has been negotiating with several strategic partners to distribute the product locally as well as overseas. Some international appointments are expected to be concluded within this financial quarter. ETI Tech is pleased to be part of the research and development community contributing to the Made in Malaysia agenda.
