Keep any loose leaf paper in one section of expanding
folder.
Go to your locker after each designated time. This is based
on who has upper and lower lockers. Teachers will go over
this method with you during your homeroom during the
first few days of school.
Put away previous class materials and get next class
materials. Initially do NOT worry about tardies.
Your laptop will have an assignment notebook included in
the software. Make sure you keep track of ALL homework
assignments in that specified folder.

Stay on top of homework from the very beginning. Do not
allow yourself to fall behind. Once you do, it becomes very
difficult to get caught up.
If you do not understand something – MAKE SURE YOU ASK
YOUR TEACHER for help either during class or after class.
ALL of the Jr. High teachers are more than willing to help.
Do NOT be afraid to make arrangements to get extra help,
either before or after school with any one of your teachers.
Parents feel free to contact any teacher via e-mail &/or
phone to arrange for a conference if needed.

       test question.”

STRATEGY FOR READING TEXTBOOKS
* SQ3R
    1) Survey – Read the title, introduction, headings, & a
summary or conclusion. Look at pictures, tables, maps
       etc.
    2) Question – You should have questions in mind as
       you read.
    3) Read – By reading you should find the answer to
your questions. You may need to change a
question or turn it into several questions.
    4) Review – Apply what you are reading to what you
       know.
    5) Recite – Determine what is important to remember. Did
you answer all of the questions you had? What don’t you
       still understand?

Preparing to Study: A Good Study Place
* Is my study place available to me whenever I need it?

* Is my study place free from interruptions & distractions?

* Does my study place contain all of the study materials I
need.

* Is the environment of my study place “study ready?”

* Try to avoid your bed.

  STUDY SKILLS
• It is best to review the material right after class when it is
  fresh in your memory.
• Don’t try to do all your studying the night before the test,
instead space out your studying, review class materials at
least several times a week, focusing on one topic at a time.
• Have all of your study materials in front of you: lecture
notes, course textbooks, study guides, and any other
  relevant materials.
• Start by studying the most important information first.
• Learn the general concepts first; don’t worry about learning
the details until you have learned the main ideas.
          KEYS TO SUCCESS
  STUDY SKILLS cont. . . . . . . . . . . .
• Take short breaks frequently, your memory retains the
information that you study at the beginning and the end
better that what you learn in the middle.
• Space out your studying, you’ll learn more by studying a
little every day instead of waiting to cram at the last
minute. By studying everyday, the material will stay in your
long term memory but if you try to study at the last
moment, the material will only reside in your short-term
  memory that you’ll easily forget.
• Test yourself or have someone test you on the material to
find out what your weak and strong areas are. Use the
review questions at the end of the chapter or practice test
  the teacher may give you.

morning person try studying in the morning.
