Step 1: Domain Name Registration
If you don’t know what a domain name is, it is essentially the name of the site you put in your browser. For example: recessiondynamite.com is the domain name I registered for my Squeeze Page. Now, I can only recommend two domain registration companies because these are the only two I have ever used: NameCheap HostGator Both of these contain my affiliate links. I tell you this upfront because I have had good experiences with both of these companies, so I feel qualified to recommend them with honesty, not just for the sake of making money. If you do not want to use my affiliate link, and want to go to the merchant directly, then do so. I will assure you I will harbor no hard feelings for you! Their prices range anything from $9 to $15 per domain depending on the options and add-ins that you select. When you select your domain, keep it simple: choose a .com extension because this is the most prevalent one and the easiest to remember. Also, you are here to establish a profitable business, so don’t put an “.org” extension or something similar because that would be misleading. As for the domain name itself, keep it simple too: use something short that can be remembered. Avoid long domain names at all costs. Make it memorable, so that it sticks in the user’s mind. For instance, who can forget the name recessiondynamite.com, right?

Step 2: Hosting Your Site
Now that you have a domain registered, you need to host that address somewhere. The only hosting company I can honestly recommend is: HostGator I have hosted several sites with them, and their service has been flawless. But I don’t want you to feel pressured to choose just one company. I know of one person who has tested a lot of hosting companies, and he has a website where he lists what he calls the “Honest Hosts”: http://whreviews.com/honest-hosts.htm Hostgator happens to be among one of them. This is to let you know that what I recommend is not crap. There is a lot of that on the web nowadays, and I have no tolerance for it. But check out the “Honest Hosts”, if you want, and decide the hosting company fast. You cannot waste time on such a simple matter.
Step 3: Point Your Domain To Your Hosting Account
Alright, so you have your domain name registered and your hosting is settled. A lot of people register their domain name with one company and host their site with a totally different company. This means that the Name Servers of the Domain Registration Company have to be changed, so that they point to the hosting company. I cannot say much about this, since each company is different, so I recommend that you follow the steps laid out by your hosting and domain companies as for how to point your domain to your hosting account. Nevertheless, you can eliminate this entire hassle if you do as I do: register your domain and host your site with the same company (in my case, with HostGator). If you do this, then you can skip this entire step, so you can set up your website FAST!

Step 4: HTML Editing
Before we move any further, you need to get an HTML editor. An HTML editor is a software program where you can create, edit, tweak, and design web pages for your site. My personal recommendation is to use this FREE editor: http://kompozer.net/download.php I know there are more fancy editors out there like Dreamweaver, FrontPage, and others, but remember that we are creating simple websites FAST! We have not time for creativity, graphics, and other time-sucking diversions!
Step 5: Squeeze/Opt-In Pages
We are going to be using so-called SQUEEZE/OPT-IN pages. These pages have numerous advantages:
•
They are very simple (1-3 pages max). No need to write lots of text. In fact, you better use bullet points like I am doing right now. The sole aim of these sites is to get visitors to give you their email addresses. Everything else is a distraction.
•
•
We could get into the intricacies of squeeze page design, but I am going to keep it simple. I am going to give you 3 of the best Squeeze page templates I have found: Download Squeeze Templates These templates are used by Internet Marketing millionaires like Frank Kern and Tellman Knudson. If you don’t know who they are, search for their names on Google, and you will find out that these guys know how to build a list. There is no need to re-invent the wheel. Just imitate what they are doing. This is not cheating because Squeeze pages have no copyright on them. In fact, you will find out that same Opt-In pages being used by a lot of marketers over and over again. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Step 6: Setting Up Your Autoresponder
This is a CRUCIAL step. This is going to differentiate your web site from all other websites out there. It is neither fancy nor pretty, but it is very functional! We are going to set up your autoresponder. I can hear your thoughts now: Aitor, what on God’s green Earth is an autoresponder for? An autoresponder is an email service that collects and organizes the email addresses of your subscribers. Every time a visitor to your Opt-In page gives his email address, the autoresponder automatically collects that email address and puts it into a specific list. Not only that, but it also sends an automatic email message to the subscriber immediately after he subscribes. In fact, as I will cover later on, an autoresponder can send several messages in a row automatically without you worrying about anything! Hence the name AUTO-RESPONDER: it automatically responds to your subscribers without you having to stay on top of everything all the time. But where do you get an autoresponder, you ask? I can recommend to you the one I use, which is used by a lot of people in Internet marketing: AWeber Communications But I don’t want to limit your options. Another famous one in the industry is: GetResponse I have not used them, so I cannot personally endorse them. Nevertheless, I recommend you stick to these two, because these are professional autoresponders. If you have a tight budget, you might be tempted to get a free autoresponder, but you should not do that. Why? Let’s say that you have an email list with 1,000 subscribers on it. You send out an email to all 1,000 subscribers with your free autoresponder, thinking that all of your emails have been delivered. BUT WAIT! Did you know that maybe only 500-600 subscribers received your email, or maybe even less? Why? Because if you use an autoresponder that has no reputation or
RecessionDynamite.com 8

a shady reputation, then email companies like Yahoo! and Gmail are going to block the emails being sent out by your autoresponder. Instead, if you use top-notch autoresponders like AWeber and GetResponse, about 99-100% of your emails will be delivered. So initially you might be hesitant to pay a monthly fee for your autoresponder service, but in the long run this will be one of the best investments you will ever make in your life. I want you to consider for a moment the importance of the autoresponder in your online business. An autoresponder is the heart of an online business. It is the automation tool that allows you to save time, communicate with your subscribers, and make a stable income online. Thus, I recommend that you grab your autoresponder NOW!

Step 7: Placing Opt-In Forms In Your Squeeze Pages
Now that you have your autoresponder ready, it is time to put an opt-in form into your squeeze page. An Opt-In form is where your visitor types his Name and Email (sometimes only the email is give n). Here is an example of an Opt-In form as used by Frank Kern:

So how do you put this on your site? This is where it gets a bit techie, but I will walk you through it step-by-step in this video (click on the image below to see the video):
The above is a high quality video, so it will take a while to load up. If you want a lower quality version that will load faster, you can click on this YouTube link (be warned that although this video will load faster, the quality is substantially lower, and you might have to strain your eyes a bit more; click on the image below to see the video):

Step 8: Thank You/Confirmation Page
You have your squeeze page set and ready to go, but what happens when a subscriber clicks on the ‘Send’ button? Usually, the autoresponder will send the user to a default page where the user is told to check his email for a confirmation message. But we can do better than that! We can create our own ‘Thank You’ page to give it a more personal touch rather than present our subscriber with a cold and heartless autoresponder confirmation page. You can download a template of a ‘Thank You’ page from my site: You don’t necessarily have to use the template I give you. Use your imagination, but not too much, either! You want to make several things clear to the subscriber:
• • •
Tell your subscriber to check his email now. Tell your subscriber to whitelist your address, so that your autoresponder emails do not go into the SPAM folder. This is very important! Tell your subscriber to click on the confirmation link contained in the body of the email sent by the autoresponder. This is also very important because if the user does not confirm his email, his subscription to your newsletter will not be activated.
Of course, all of this depends on whether you set up a single opt-in or double opt-in page. A single opt-in page is one where the visitor subscribes once, and hence no confirmation email is sent to his inbox. In this case then, you don’t have to worry about giving your subscriber the above bulleted instructions. You should use a single opt-in when you want to build your list as big as possible. But if you only want a list of active subscribers, then you might want to implement a double opt-in page where the user subscribes once and then has to confirm his subscription by clicking on a confirmation link. If you are starting your list from scratch, I recommend you use a single opt-in because it will help you to grow your list faster. However, if you already have a good-sized list, it might be better for you to use a double opt-in to increase the quality of the list. Choose one method, and go all the way with it. No need to waste a lot of time on such a decision.

Step 9: Upsell or OTOs (One Time Offers)
Another more profitable option is to substitute a thank you/confirmation page for an upsell/one-time-offer page. An upsell is a special offer shown to the subscriber right after he gives you his name and email address. An upsell is attractive because it is a unique opportunity to buy two types of products: 1. A product that cannot be found anywhere else, either online or offline. 2. A product that can be found somewhere else, but at a lower price You have to make sure that the product is related to the theme of your email list. So for example, if someone subscribes to your free report on how to lose fat quickly, you could do an upsell where you sell a video series of the most effective workouts to lose fat. But upsells are not just about profitability; they can also give you valuable information about your subscribers. Once one of your subscribers buys your product, ask him for his name and email address, so that he can download your digital product. In your autoresponder, you should set up a separate list for your buyers. This will help you to segment your list into two types of subscribers: 1. Subscribers who want your information but don’t way to buy your upsell.
2. Buyers: they are interested in your information, but more importantly, they are
ready to buy from you. These subscribers are your goldmine. Of course, you should follow-up with your buyers by sending them emails about new products, special discounts, bonuses, and freebies. You want to make them feel special.

Step 10: Uploading Your Site With FTP
You have your squeeze and thank you pages ready. Now you need to make them go ‘LIVE’; i.e. put them online so that the entire world can see them. Before you do anything, make sure the names of your files are correct:
• •
Name your squeeze page “index.html”. This is will ensure that your squeeze page becomes your Home page. Do not give it any other name. You can name your Thank You page “thankyou.html” for simplicity’s sake, or you can name it whatever you want. Unlike your squeeze page, the name of your Thank You page does not matter that much.
To transfer your web pages to the web, you are going to need to use what is called an FTP (File-Transfer-Protocol) service. If you are using HostGator, you can use the File Manager inside your cPanel:
If you don’t use HostGator, you can use FileZilla, a free FTP software client: http://filezilla-project.org/ I have used this program in the past, and it has worked well for me. If you want to know how to upload your web pages to your server with FileZilla, check out my tutorial here (clicking on the image below will take you to the video):

Step 11: Autoresponder Series
You have come a long way. Your squeeze page is online, and your visitors can now subscribe to your list. But wait: what emails are they going to receive once they sign up? This is where we begin to see the power of the autoresponder. What you are going to do now is write a series of emails that will be sent out by your autoresponder in a 7 day sequence. The content of this 7 day sequence will depend on the niche market you have chosen for yourself. There are several ways of organizing the 7 day sequence, so take the following as a template that you can change to your heart’s content:
•
Day 1: The most important day. First impressions last a long time. You want to give your subscribers an excellent first impression. Sell your character, not a product. If you start with sales pitches right away, people will begin to unsubscribe in no time. Try to empathize with your audience: you were once in the same position as they were, but now you have found the solution to their problem. Apply that to any market, and people will begin to respect you.
•
Day 2: Give them the useful, free content you promised when they signed up to the 7 day sequence.
•
Day 3: Give them more content, but tie it in with some form of sales pitch of either a high-quality affiliate product, or your own valuable product. Do not use hype. Be honest with your audience, and they will begin to trust you.
•
Day 4: Give them more useful, free content.
•
Day 5: More content leading to a “soft, intelligent” sales pitch.
•
Day 6: More useful, free content.
RecessionDynamite.com
17
Recession Dynamite
•
Day 7: Wrap up the series and do a “soft” sales pitch once again.
I wrote “sales pitch”, but that is not how your audience should perceive it. Your subscribers have to see you as a friend who is recommending (not just selling) them something that they will find valuable. Above all: be real! That may sound corny, but it is essential that you recommend good products, not crappy ones. If you recommend products just for the sake of making money, your subscribers will begin to see you as a scammer, and as a result, they will unsubscribe from your list. So, what are you waiting for? Get going with your 7 day autoresponder sequence!
Step 12: Now What?
Congratulations! If you have followed all the steps in this guide, you are probably ahead of 98% of the Internet Marketing newbies out there. But you are not finished, yet. Not by a long shot. What is the point of having a webpage if there are no eyes to see it? You need TRAFFIC. The subject of traffic in Internet Marketing is a “beast” of its own that would require another report entirely to understand the subject in-depth. Nevertheless, let me give you a few traffic sources you can use right now: • • • • • • Article marketing (ezinearticles.com) - FREE Forum marketing (signature) - FREE SEO (search engine optimization; rank high on Google, Yahoo!, and MSN) – FREE Video Marketing (YouTube, Viddler, Metacafe, etc) - FREE PPC (Pay-per-Click) Advertising – PAID Ezine Ads – PAID

•
Classified Ads – PAID or FREE Joint Ventures – FREE (PAID sometimes) Blogging – FREE Affiliate Program – PAID (commissions to affiliates) Social Networking (MySpace, Facebook, Digg, etc) - FREE Offline methods (postcards, brochures, etc) – PAID or FREE.
• • •
•
•
If you are on a tight budget, avoid paid sources of traffic like PPC or Ezine Ads. In fact, if you are a newbie and on a tight budget, I caution you against using PPC because if you don’t know what you are doing, you can lose your shirt. Choose ONE or TWO traffic sources and maximize their potential. If you try to use all of these methods at once, you will go nuts! But if you want to know the fastest way to drive traffic to your squeeze page, I recommend you check out the Perpetual Marketing Machine, created by Tellman Knudson, a listbuilding “guru.” Perpetual Marketing Machine Let me give you an overview of PMM: The perpetual marketing machine details how teleseminars can be used to quickly drive huge amounts traffic to your squeeze page. What is a teleseminar? A teleseminar is a conference call where a lot of people call in to a bridge-line, and talk about some product they are interested in, or generate ideas in a brainstorming session. In the Perpetual Marketing Machine, you are taught how to interview experts in your field, delivering several benefits at once:
1. The expert tells his list about your teleseminar. But in order to join the
teleseminar, they have to give you their name and email address when they arrive at your squeeze page. Thus, you leverage the expert’s list without having to pay a penny!
2. By doing the interview, you are generating content. You should record the
interview and transcribe it, so you can later sell it as both audio and text.

19

3. You acquire expert “aura.” Although you might not be an expert, by talking to one
people think you have special access to the experts in your field. As a result, by the power of association, people start to see you as an expert. In the Perpetual Marketing Machine, you will also find case studies of Tellman’s students who have been able to make $3,000-$11,000/week once they implemented his teleseminar/interview system. Of course, your results might not be similar to those of Tellman’s students, but earning $500-$1,000/week is a real possibility with this system. The price of the Perpetual Marketing Machine is steep, but remember that this is the fast track to creating your first list, which is the best way to make money online. So if you want to start earning money online as quickly as possible, take a look at this special system: Perpetual Marketing Machine
Final Considerations
Apart from the issue of traffic, you should now give some serious thought to your relationship with your list. Some questions you should ask yourself: • • • Are you providing them with high-quality, free content? Are you being genuine with your sales pitches, or being too hypey and hitting them over the head with offer after offer? Are you communicating with them through blogging or surveys? You have to get feedback from your list to find out what they want, and how you can improve your relationship with them. Can you create an Infoproduct (ebook, audio, or video) that can help them solve their problems? Are too many people unsubscribing too fast? Find out the reason for this.
• •
Remember: it is not the size of the list, but the quality of the list. There is no point in having 1 million subscribers who don’t respond to your offers. Much better to have 5,000 subscribers who adore you because you treat them like royalty! To help you with your future listbuilding business, I am going to give you a fancy Mind Map showing you the big picture of your email marketing business:

Finally, I have to confess that I could not have done this guide without reading The Lazy Marketer’s Rapid List Profit Formula. This is an ebook written by Chris Rempel, a.k.a. the Lazy Marketer, where he outlines in 41 pages how to quickly build a list of subscribers that will make you money for a long time to come. There is no fluff in this ebook, as Chris tells you how to relate to your subscribers to increase profits, and how to drive traffic to your squeeze pages. Check it out for yourself here: Rapid List Profit Formula For $19.95, this book truly over-delivers considering all the crappy $47 and $67 ebooks one can find in the wild regions of the Internet.
