H.S.A. Meeting Minutes –September 15, 2011 in the Art Room
Approval of Meeting Minutes – Karen Asher and Staci Lichtenstein approved minutes from 6/09/11 meeting
Attendance – 22 parents attended meeting.
Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Stevens offered their thanks for the Welcome Back Luncheon.
They also offered their thanks for the 25 copies of Sick Day for Amos McGee. Ms. Cappadona has read
this to all of the classes.
Coleman CARES is the theme of the school year. It will be incorporated in the classroom throughout the
The Walk-a-Thon will be held on October 5th. Mr. Polles and Mrs. Wright want to incorporate a wellness
program to go along with Walk-a-Thon

Two items were approved by the members. They are: $300 over the original budget of $3,000 for the
picnic tables and the addition of an estimated $100 of expenses for the Walk-a-Thon prizes. Both items
were approved by the members.
A thank you card was received from Mrs. Cathy Mitchell.
A thank you was also received from Mrs. Wendy Roche and Ms. Antonette Moore for the Back -to- School
A thank you card was sent to Donna Ernst for her help on getting the School Toolboxes organized.
A Sympathy card was sent to the McDonald Family. (1st grade)
A Get Well card was sent to Mrs. Locascio and Sam McNamara. (3P)
A Welcome baby card was sent to Mrs. Mitchell.
Stacy Hendl welcomed everyone to the meeting.
The Fall Festival is scheduled for September 24th with rain date of September 25th.
Purchases approved last year are coming in – these include picnic tables and a drying rack for the art
Our new Kindergarteners received Coleman Rookie t-shirts from the first graders. Mrs. Moger would like
to make this a yearly tradition.
Author Loren Long is scheduled to visit grades Pre-K - 2nd grade.
October 5th is Walk to School Day. This will kick off the walk-a-thon. Thank you to Smoothie King and Mrs.
Cappadona for splitting the cost of the prizes for the classes.
Coleman CARES and the Anti Bullying law will be addressed at Back to School Night.
A week of respect is the first week of October. Dr. Glasgow will present an assembly on building self-
esteem on October 5th. A parent component will be included that week.
A thank you was extended for the Welcome Back Luncheon and Welcome Back Coffee.
Bari Engel is garden chair and is looking for donations for goods and services for outdoor maintenance.
Box Tops: The first collection is on September 28th. Please cut as neatly as possible. No expired box tops
will be accepted. Shoprite and Stop & Shop Campbell's Soup Labels: class parents should send out a
reminder for parents to register their store cards.
KidStuff Books: Books are now available for purchase. New coupons added this year are: Fairway, Narjtie
Kids, A&P, Disney, Lego and Brunswick Fair Lawn lanes. The books will be available at Back to School
Night and the Fall Festival.
Single Check Process: The checks were sorted. There was a huge response and positive feedback from
Fall Festival: An email was sent out about basket contributions and volunteering. The festival will have
lots of food (pizza, hot dogs and popcorn) and fun games for the children. Thank you Staci Lichtenstein for
organizing the bake sale. More volunteers are needed: check-in table (wristbands will be available for
purchase on that day) basket raffle (guest can purchase raffle tickets) inflatable obstacle course (need
volunteers to watch the children as the go through the course) Tic Toc donated 2 theatre subscriptions as
a prize. There will be a 50/50 sale at Kilroy's on Sept 17th & 18 th. Spirit wear will be sold during the fall
festival, virtual samples will be displayed. This year's design is more graphic than collegic. We are also
selling sweatpants and BPA free water bottles.
Shop with Script: Parent participation is strongly encouraged. Recurring orders will be added this year.
