Pastor Evergreen Community Church, Renton, WA 5/02 – 8/04
Called as a consultant/intentional interim pastor. Initiated a turnaround ministry in a church that was in the
process of closing. Developed a purpose statement, initiated leadership development and introduced ministry
principles using the life of Christ as a template. Accepted a call to ministry in August, 2002. Successfully
performed several community evangelistic events. Lead the board through leadership development. Preached
expository messages focusing on joyful obedience and sanctification. Worked with the worship team to
develop an atmosphere conducive to exalting Christ on Sundays. Church stabilized and saw growth and
baptisms. Had a positive spirit reflected in joy and exuberant worship.
Senior Pastor Cornerstone Community Baptist Church, Kent, WA 1/97 – 1/01
Consistently preached God's word with an emphasis on life change. Led lay leaders in the development of a
new mission statement that expressed life change as a personal goal for everyone at Cornerstone Church.
Successfully introduced adults to ministry principles using Jesus as a template for ministry. Set in motion the
practice of biblical community by developing an extensive, church-wide small group ministry for students and
adults. Small groups were responsible for assimilation and discipleship. Equipped adults in evangelism
through a modified Evangelism Explosion curriculum that can be applied personally in any setting.
Consistently communicated the need for relationships with lost people and created evangelistic events that
introduced lost people to Cornerstone Church and Christ. Transformed the worship ministry from mere singing
to expressive worship that included drama, Power Point and video. Such worship moved people to exalt Christ
emotively and intellectually. Led church in a successful capital campaign fund to hire an associate pastor.
Senior Pastor Heights Evangelical Free Church, La Habra, CA 12/93 – 6/96
Pastored Heights Church in a rapidly changing city where demographics were moving from Caucasian to
Hispanic. Responsible for up to four part-time staff – Youth Director, Secretary, Worship Leader,
Administrative Assistant. Developed a ministry for spiritual growth and life change by implementing small
group ministry and training small group leaders. Also designed adult C.E. program with emphasis on
assimilation. Created strategic approach to evangelism which included Home Bible Studies, Children's
Ministry and Friendship Sundays. Provided relevant expository preaching, teaching, and one-on-one
discipleship. Intentionally led the church to give an Hispanic congregation all property and assets.
Senior Pastor First Baptist Church, Newberg, OR 10/88 – 11/93
Responsible for a staff of four – Secretary, Music Director, Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor. Ministered in the
areas of preaching, teaching, and counseling. Also focused on discipleship/leadership development. Created a
comprehensive outreach strategy designed uniquely for First Baptist Church. Redirected vision by developing a
contemporary mission statement and focusing on outreach rather than internal needs.
Singles Director Grace Church, Cypress, CA 2/86 – 4/88
Implemented a ministry for young single adults that grew to 75 in number. Responsible for teaching twice a
week. Extensive counseling in various aspects of single life; i.e., money management, drug abuse, divorce and
marriage, sexuality and emotional problems. Also oversaw the creation and promotion of social and special
events. Developed and implemented a one-year discipleship program to develop leaders. Organized outreach
through the use of Evangelism Explosion material.
