When installing a BTS3012AE cabinet on the cement ground,
make sure that the ground is stable and smooth and that the
ground has sufficient weight bearing capacity. When installing
the cabinet on the building top, ensure that the building top has
the sufficient weight bearing capacity.
When the weight bearing capacity of the cement ground is
bigger than 800kg/m2, install the cabinet on the cement ground
directly.
When the weight bearing capacity of the cement ground is
smaller than 800kg/m2, install supporting channel steel on the
cement ground and then install the cabinet on the channel steel.

Preparing for the Structure Installation
Determine the height of the cement platform according to the local
requirements of preventing and controlling flood. The cement
foundation should be higher than the surrounding ground for less
than 100mm. Ensure that no water enters the cabinet when there is
rain or flood. When molding the cement foundation, ensure that the
smoothness of the upper surface of the cement foundation is not
bigger than 5mm.

Preparing for the power installation

        Grounding

 To ensure good grounding of the equipment, it is
  required to provide the outdoor grounding bar and
  the grounding resistance should be smaller than
  5Ω. At the area where there are fewer than 20
  thunderstorm days in a year, the grounding
  resistance can be smaller than 10Ω.
  The cross-section size of the grounding cable
  should be not smaller than 25 mm2, and the length
  of the grounding cable should be shorter than 5m.

       In the BTS3012AE, the maximum output power of the rectifier module is
       1680W, and its efficiency is 90%. The power system is of three-phase
       input, and each phase supporting two rectifier modules. A cabinet
       supports a maximum of six rectifier modules, so the current of each
       phase of AC power is 1680*2/0.9/176 = 21.2 A.

                     Installation Specifications of Power Cable
 Before distributing power cables, exactly measure the distance between
  the power engineering interface box and connecting terminals and
  reserve additional cable of enough length. If you find that the reserved
  cable is not long enough, stop distributing the cable and replace with
  new cable. Never connect two pieces of power cables.
 Distribute the power cables and other electrical cables separately. Do
  not bind the power cable and other cables. Keep a distance of 30mm at
  least when the power cable runs parallel with other electrical cables.
 If the power cable need be bound to a metallic cabling rack, use the
  insulated material—Fire Resistant PVC Bellow to distribute the power
  cable.
 Do not install any switch or fuse on the power cable.
 The power cable should run in straight lines, and be bound in order.
  There should be a distance of 200mm between cable ties.
 When making cable ties, keep all cable ties towards the same direction.
  The cable ties at the same position should be in a horizontal line. Cut
  the heads of the cable ties.

 The power subsystem consists of PSU, DPMU, and batteries. The power
 subsystem has the following functions:
 Transferring the AC input power into –48V DC power
 



 Providing –48V DC for the whole BTS system
 



 Charging and discharging of batteries
 

     DPMU                Monitors the state of PSU, batteries, and internal environment of
                         cabinet.
                         6-line Boolean value input and 2-line Boolean value output
     PSU                 Transfers the AC power into –48V DC power and provides the power
                         to each internal module of the BTS3012AE. The output power of each
                         power module is 1600W (176–300V).
     Battery group       When the AC power supply is cut, batteries can keep the normal
                         operation of the BTS.

Description of Heat Exchanger
 A heat exchanger is installed at the side of the communication cabinet and used to
  adjust the internal temperature of the cabinet by exchanging heat with the air outside.
 In a pan-shape heat exchanger, there are four centrifugal fans: two are used for
  internal circulation and the other two are used for external circulation to provide
  flowing air. According to the mode that is set in advance, the heat exchanger is
  designed to control the rotating speed according to the temperature.
 The BTS3012AE uses the HX04 heat exchanger, which has the heat exchanging
  capacity of 190W/K and heating capacity of 1742W/240VAC.
 The HX04 heat exchanger can report the following alarms: internal fan failure,
  external fan failure, heater failure, high temperature of the cabinet, low temperature
  of the cabinet, sensor failure, sensor disconnected/short-circuit, and so on.

Description of Transmission Space
The BTS3102AE has the space for two built-in battery cases (–48V 150AH and -48V 50AH) and transmission
space of 2U. When a space is needed for customer equipment, dismantle the battery case of –48V 50AH and
unite with the transmission space of 2U to get a space of 7U for customer equipment. After being dismantled
and transferred to the space for customer equipment, the battery case of –48V 50AH cannot be used as a
battery case because it is not airproof any more.

          Installation Specifications of E1 Cable
 When connecting E1 cables, comply with the following specifications:
 E1 cable cannot be suspended outside the equipment room. It is
  recommended to put the transmission cable through underground metallic
  tube and connect both ends of the metallic tube to the ground, or use the
  cable shielded with metallic jacket and connect both ends of the metallic
  jacket to the ground.
 When distributing cables, do not make E1 cable intersect with the power
  cable, protection ground cable, or radio frequency cable. If the
  transmission cable runs parallel with the power cable, protection ground
  cable, and radio frequency cable, keep a distance of 30mm between the
  cables at least.
 The radius of bending of coaxial cable should be at least 40mm so that the
  cable core is not damaged.
 The E1 cable should be distributed neatly and bound firmly with cable ties.
 Reserve some additional length at the bending of the E1 cable.
 When making cable ties, keep all cable ties towards the same direction.
  The cable ties at the same position should be in a horizontal line. Cut the
  heads of the cable ties.

Remarks About Backup Batteries

  The built-in batteries of the BTS3012AE are 200Ah at most and the
   external batteries of the BTS3012E are 600Ah at most.




   Currently, the BTS power system cannot support built-in batteries and
   external batteries simultaneously.
   The temperature sensor of a new-style 48V battery cabinet has two lines
   of output, supplying power for two cabinets. Old-style battery cabinets
   cannot supply power for two cabinets.

Installation Procedure of Built-in Batteries and Cables
1. Remove the M3 screws on the plane of the built-in battery case, dismantle the plane, and
   keep the removed screws.
2. Remove the screws on the slide board in the built-in battery case of BTS3012AE. Pull the
   slide board outward till the barrier strips at the two sides of the slide board are below the
   gap beside the barrier strips on the two side walls and then raise the slide board up.
3. Pull the slide board horizontally till the barrier strips contact the front turns of the side walls
   in the battery case and cannot be pulled any longer.
4. Place two batteries at the front half on the slide board and remove the protection cover on
   the batteries.
5. Connect the two batteries.
6. Cover the plastic cover on the built-in batteries, push the two batteries to the front half of the
   slide board, place another two batteries, and then open the plastic cover of the two
   batteries.
7. Connect the cable between the batteries. Connect an OT terminal to the anode of the
   batteries and the other OT terminal to the cathode of the batteries. Connect the remained
   cables, cover the plastic protection covers of the two batteries at the side, and push the
   slide board into the battery case.
8. Use the removed M3 screws to fasten the plane of the built-in battery case again.

Installation Procedure of Built-in Batteries and Cables

                                                    Install the first group of batteries:
                                                    As shown in the left figure, use Line 1, 3,
                                                    4 to connect three batteries, move the

                                Install the second group of batteries
                                As shown in the left figure, use Line 2, 3, 4 to
                                connect three batteries, move the cover to the
                                terminal, and pull the three connected batteries
                                into the back row in the middle of the battery
                                case.
                                Place the fourth battery at the right side of the
                                front row in the middle of the battery case,
                                connect the battery with Line 4, and move the
                                terminal cover to the terminal.
                                Connect the two output Line 2 to the copper
                                connector.

                                Install the third group of batteries:
                                Place two batteries at the left of the front bottom of the
                                battery case and another two batteries at the left of the
                                front middle layer of the battery case.
                                As shown in the left figure, use Line 1, 2, 4 to connect
                                the batteries and then move the terminal cover onto the
                                terminal.
                                Connect the output Line 1 and 2 to the copper
                                connector.

Power-On Procedure of Integrated Equipment
Check before power-on
1 DC load
   Check the load and load cable. Ensure that the load cables correctly connected to the
    corresponding connection terminals and all cables are firmly connected. Use the multimeter to
    check for the short-circuit at the output end.
2 Battery load
   Check the connection of batteries. Ensure that the anode and cathode of cables of call batteries
    are correctly connected to the corresponding battery terminals, and that the connection is
    reliable.
3 Alarm connection
   Ensure that all alarm cables are correctly connected to the alarm terminals.
4 Grounding
   Check whether the rack is installed with safe ground protection.
5 AC voltage
   Disconnect the AC power and use the multimeter to check the resistance of the input end and
    ensure that there is no short circuit. Ensure that the AC cable is correctly connected to the AC
    cable terminal, measure the phase voltage of AC power, which should comply with the system
    requirement.

Power-On
     After confirming that the checks before power-on are complete, take the following
     steps:
1.   Set all power switches on the DC power distribution box to “OFF”.
2.   Pull out all rectifier modules, close the AC input switch to connect the AC power to
     the system.
3.   Insert a rectifier module. The yellow indicator of the module blinks. 30 seconds later
     the system operates normally and the green indicator of the module is lighted. At
     the moment, measure the output voltage of the module. If the voltage is normal,
     insert other rectifier modules one by one.
4.   Insert the monitor module. The monitor module searches the rectifier modules and
     meanwhile its green indicator blinks for about 20 seconds. Then the green indicator
     of the monitor module is lighted.
5.   Connect the load equipment (including heat exchanger).
6.   Connect the batteries.
7.   Make related configurations through the HOST PC software.

Procedure of Checking Before Powering on the Heat
Exchanger


   After inserting PSU into the cabinet, turn on the ACU/HX switch on the AC
   power distribution box, and observe whether the fan of the heat exchanger
   rotates fast and normally.
  If so, the heat exchanger operates normally and the check before the
   power-on is complete.
  If not, the heat exchanger has faults.

                        The procedure of installing the radio frequency jumpers
                        is as follows:
                        1 Dismantle the cover plate on the radio frequency cable
                        leading in/out holes at the right side of the bottom of the
                        cabinet.
                        2 Thread one end of the jumper that connects the radio
                        frequency cable leading in/out holes in the cabinet and
                        the antenna through the hole appearing after the cover
                        plate is dismantled, extend the cable for about 15cm into
                        the cabinet, and interconnect two Din connectors.
                        3 Make waterproof processing for the Din connectors. Do
                        not use adhesive tape to wrap the screw holes of the
                        connectors.
                        4 Fix the cover plate on the corresponding leading in/out
                        holes again. Repeat Step 2–4, and then fix the
                        connectors of remained jumpers.
 Installation of the radio frequency jumpers is complete.

Notes
 Pay attention to personal safety when installing a cabinet.
 Be cautious when installing the power system and avoid damage of the parts.
 Allow only the personnel who have qualification of high-voltage AC tasks to perform
   operations of AC power.
 Ensure that the system has a good ground protection before connecting the system to the
   AC power.
 If a tool has a single handle, the handle should be insulated.
 Only the technical personnel who have received related technical training and have the
   experience of operating power and batteries can operate on the power.
 When performing tasks of the system, stop others operating on the system and put a
   forbiddance sign such as “Do not close the switch. An operator is operating.” on the power
   distribution equipment.


 If the old fuse need be replaced, replace with a new fuse with the same specification.

Notes

 Cut off the power of the batteries before connecting cables of batteries to avoid personal
   damage.
 Use the following method to cut off the power of batteries.
 Use a stick to press the button in the hole beside the silk print OFF on the DPMU panel for
   more than five seconds till hearing the sound of battery contactor disconnecting.
 If one end of the two pieces of cables between batteries is connected to the batteries and
   the other end is suspending, the two suspending ends may contact or both contact the
   cabinet, thus causing short circuit, so the two suspending ends should be wrapped with
   insulating tape.
 When placing batteries, ensure that the anode and cathode of batteries are placed in
   correct positions. Correctly connect the connection lines between anode and cathode of
   batteries.
 When operating on lead-acid batteries, strictly comply with the operation guide of
   manufacturers and take preventative measures to avoid chemical damage.
