                      EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Livestock Development invites applications
to fill the following vacant posts. Candidates should be Tanzanians and of high
moral standards and result oriented performers.

    1. PRINCIPAL INFORMATION EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION
       OFFICER I (1 POST)

    1.1. Responsible to: Permanent Secretary
    1.2. Duties and Responsibilities:
   Head of Information Education And Communication Unit and Chief Advisor to
    Permanent Secretary on those matters.
   Coordinate press briefings for the Ministry;
   Work out strategies for promotion of Ministerial activities, programmes and
    policies, and produce documents on sectoral and ministerial plans, reforms
    and development and distribute to stakeholders.
   Coordinate preparation of Sectoral and Ministerial papers for workshops and
    conferences;
   Up-date sectoral and ministerial information in the website and manage the
    Ministry’s website;

   1.3. Qualifications and Experience:
 Application for the post must have a degree in the field of Mass Media/
   Communication/ Journalism; Masters/postgraduate course will be an added
   advantage.
 Applicants should have a proven practical experience of not less than 5 years
   in the relevant field, of which 2 years should be in managerial or leadership
   position of similar nature in a reputable organization;
 Computer literate:
   1.4. Remuneration:
According to Government Salary Scale TGS. H and other entitlements
commensurate to the position.

2. PRINCIPAL STATE ATTORNEY I (1 POST)
   2.1. Responsible to: Permanent Secretary
   2.2. Duties and Responsibilities:

 Head of Legal Unit and Chief Advisor to Permanent Secretary on legal issues;
 Provide legal advice and assistance to Ministry’s Divisions and Units and
  Entities under the Ministry on interpretation of laws, terms of contract, terms of
    agreements, privatization agreements, procurement contracts guarantees,
    letters of undertaking, memorandum of understanding, consultancy
    agreements and other type of agreements and other legal documents;
   Contribute to the preparation of proposed bill/act, subsidiary legislation
    (regulation, rules, orders etc) and liaise with the Chief Parliamentary
    Draftsman and Attorney Generals Chambers;
   Prosecute and make follow up of cases in courts of law and courts’ decisions,
    on behalf of the Attorney General and maintain database on courts decisions
    and ensure safe Custody.
    2.3. Qualifications and Experience:
   Application for the post must have a degree in the field of Law;
    Masters/postgraduate course will be an added advantage.
   Applicants should have a proven practical experience of not less than 5 years
    in the relevant field.

3. RECORDS MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT GRADE II (6 POSTS)
   3.1. Duties:
               To arrange and control records/ archives/ documents in
                 repositories
               To move records/ archives/ documents required by users.
               Analyze, list and arrange records/ documents in groups
                 according to classification (classification and boxing) for official
                 use.
               To put letters, documents etc. in files
               Handle requests for records/ archives/ documents from different
                 Ministries and other Public Institutions.

    3.2. Qualifications:
                Form VI with certificates in Records Management.
                Computer literate
                Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
    3.3. Remunerations:
               According to Government Salary Scale TGS. B.

4. JOB TITLE – DRIVER GRADE II ( 16 POSTS)
   4.1. Duties:
               Driving Office Vehicles
               To ensure the vehicle is in good condition
               To make minor repairs on vehicles
               To maintain Log Book for all journeys
   4.2. Qualifications:
               Applicants for the Post must have Form IV Certificate, Driving
                 License Class ‘C’ and Advanced Drivers Courses grade II from
                 a recognized institution
               Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
   4.3. Remuneration:
              According to Government Salary scale TGOS. A.

5. JOB TITLE – PERSONAL SECRETARY GRADE III (7 POSTS)
   5.1. Duties:
               Perform routine typing activities
               Keep and maintain all Office records
               Maintain a diary of appointments for executives
               Receive visitors and direct them accordingly
               Answer Telephone calls and intercom
               Ensures availability of adequate office supplies and Office
                 Services.
               Make and confirm transport and Hotel Booking for the
                 Executives.
   5.2. Qualifications:
               Holder of a form IV Certificate
               Holder of a Secretarial Certificate Stage III from a recognized
                 College/Institute.
               Passed a Short hand 80 words per minute both in Kiswahili and
                 English.
               A Computer Certificate in Windows, Microsoft office, Microsoft
                 Publisher, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point and Microsoft
                 Internet and E - Mail.
               Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
   5.3. Remuneration:
              According to Government Salary Scale TGS. B.

6. JOB TITLE LIVESTOCK OFFICER GRADE II (5 POSTS)
   6.1. Duties:
               To coordinate Animal Production issues
               To coordinate and conduct training on modern animal keeping
                and canning of animal product to animal keepers
               To conduct resource survey on livestock animal feeds and
                grazing areas
               To conduct research on new areas for various animal keeping
               To make follow-up, keeping and analyze statistics on animal
                 production
               To pursue other duties on animal keeping as may be assigned
                 by his/her superior.
   6.2. Qualifications
               Applicants for the post must be holders of Bachelor of Science
                 degree in Animal Science from Sokoine University of
                 Agriculture or any other University recognized by the
                 Government.
               Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
               Computer literate.
   6.3. Remuneration
              According to Government Salary Scale TGS D

7. JOB TITLE LIVESTOCK TUTOR GRADE II (11 POSTS)
   7.1. Duties:
               To prepare scheme of work and lesson plans
               To teach diploma/certificate students
               To plan and conduct practical training
               To asses students through continuous assessment and
                 examinations.
               To supervise and asses students’ performance during field
                 practical in collaboration with officers in the field.
               To teach livestock farmers
               To manage and supervise livestock units
               To manage students welfare where applicable.
   7.2. Qualifications
               Applicants for the post must be holders of Bachelor of Science
                 in Animal Science from Sokoine University of Agriculture or any
                 other University recognized by the Government.
               Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
               Computer literate.
   7.3. Remuneration
              According to Government Salary Scale TGS D

8. VETERINARY OFFICER II (10 POSTS)
   8.1. Duties:
               To provide health services to animals
               To investigate animal diseases at her/his area of work
               To program and conduct programs on animal disease
                prevention.
               To involve in wild animal disease investigation.
   8.2. Qualifications:
               Applicants for the post must be holders of degree in Veterinary
                 Science from Sokoine University of Agriculture or any other
                 University recognized by the Government.
               Registered by Veterinary Board.
               Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
               Computer literate.
   8.3. Remuneration
              According to Government Salary Scale TGS.F.

9. VETERINARY RESEARCH OFFICER II (4 POSTS)
   9.1. Duties:
               To study and manage research systems on animal health and
                 diseases.
               To keep records on various researches.
               To facilitate seminar conduction and exhibitions on modern
                 animal keeping.
               To prepare research proposals assisted by his/her supervisor
               To conduct researches under the supervision of Senior
                 Veterinary Officer
               To collect and analyse research statistics
               To produce reports and document on researches conducted
   9.2. Qualifications:
               Applicants for the post must be holders of degree in Veterinary
                 Science from Sokoine University of Agriculture or any other
                 University recognized by the Government.
               Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
               Computer literate.
   9.3. Remuneration:
              According to Government Salary Scale TGS.F.

10. LIVESTOCK RESEARCH OFFICER II (13 POSTS)
    10.1.   Duties:
             Learning how to conduct research on livestock and Tse Tse
               flies.
             To conduct research under the supervision of Senior
               researchers
             To keep research records
             To conduct Seminars
             To prepare research proposals
    10.2.   Qualifications:
             Applicants for the post must be holders of Bachelor of Science
               in Animal Science from Sokoine University of Agriculture or any
               other University recognized by the Government.
             Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
             Computer literate.
    10.3.   Remuneration
            According to Government Salary Scale TGS.D.
11. LIVESTOCK FIELD OFFICER II (10 POSTS)
    11.1.   Duties:
             To carry out diagnosis of Animal disease
             To carry out meat inspection and maintains abattoir hygiene
             To collect data of slaughtered animals, hides and skins and
               prepare a report.
             To carry out treatment of animals under the supervision of
               Veterinary Officer.
             To make farm visits and advise accordingly on technical
               interventions.
             To collect all livestock data pertaining to livestock production in
               his/her area and Jurisdiction.
             To advice and supervise the construction of livestock
               infrastructure (Dips, abattoirs, chutes and Chaco Dams).
             To supervise the reconstruction of dip washes
             To perform artificial insemination services
             To advice livestock farmers to produce milk under hygienic
               conditions and better calf rearing.
    11.2.   Qualifications:
             Applicants for the Post must have Form Six (VI) Certificate and
               a Diploma in livestock (Animal Health) from recognized
               institutes.
             Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
             Computer literate
    11.3.   Remuneration:
            According to the Government Salary Scale TGS C.

12. JOB TITLE: ECONOMIST II (1 POST)
    12.1.   Duties:
             To conduct research and economic policies.
             To collect the status required in preparing economic and social
               policies.
             To gather information and status suitability for community
               development.
             To prepare and distribute economic status to stake holders.
              To gather information in relation to International Relations,
                International Trade, Aids and Loans of the country.
              To asses and analyze the progress of the private sector in the
                country.
              To analyze and interpret various information.
              To research and sort out opportunity in the sector.
              To gather information and data and to identify priority for social
                and community development.
   12.2.     Qualifications:
              Holder of University Degree in Economics , Statistics or
              Holder of Degree in BSc. Agricultural Economics and
                Agribusiness from Sokoine University of Agriculture or any other
                recognized University.
              Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
              Computer literate
   12.3.     Remunerations: According to Government salary scale TGS. D

13. JOB TITLE: STATISTICIAN II (1 POST)
    13.1.   Duties:

              To design and maintain Ministry’s Statistical data collection and
                coordination system.
              To prepare statistical data collection instruments for feasibility
                studies, surveys and secondary data.
              To collect, analyze and submit statistical data to higher level of
                Authorities.
   13.2.     Qualifications:
              Holder of University Degree in Statistics with knowledge of ICT
              Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants.
              Computer literate
   13.3.     Remunerations: According to Government salary scale TGS. D

14. JOB TITLE: AGRICULTURAL TUTOR GRADE II (11 POSTS)
    14.1.   Duties:
             To study and understand training syllabi and interpret them into
               learning
             To prepare lesson sequences and plans theoretically and
               practically
             To teach diploma and certificate courses theoretically and
               practically
             To prepare and teach farmers/peasants
             To prepare and arrange practicals for students and supervise
               them in the course of doing.
            To examine students and keep records of their performance
            To evaluate student performance during field practicals
            To do other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor
  14.2.    Qualifications:

            Applicants for the post must be holders of Bachelor of Science
             Degree in Agricultural Science with teaching Methodology from
             Sokoine University or any other recognized University.
            Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants in to the
             Public Service.
            Computer literate.
  14.3.    Remuneration:
            According to Government salary scale TGS. D.

15. JOB TITLE: VETERINARY TUTOR GRADE II (4 POSTS)
    15.1.   Duties:

            Prepare scheme of work for his/her subjects
            Invigilate terminal, annual and final examinations
            Prepare and mark exercises, tests and examinations
            Compile records of students performance for continuous
              assessments and examinations
            Teach Diploma Students
            Assist in training farmers
            Responsible for planning and conduction of practical teaching
            Assess the students through continuous assessments and
              examinations
            Supervise and assess student’s performance during fields
              practical in collaboration with the officers in field
            Responsible for animal health services in the Institute farm.
  15.2.    Qualifications:
            Applicants for the post must be holders of Bachelor of Science
              Degree in Veterinary Science from an accredited University
            Applicants must have registered by Tanzania Veterinary Board
            Age should not be above 45 years for new entrants in to the
              Public Service.
            Computer literate.

  15.3.    Remuneration:
            According to Government salary scale TGS. F.
