School Closures Because of Weather Conditions
Please remember to listen to the radio for school closure notices after 6 a.m. You can also call the
District 17 Office at 357-4010 for a recorded message after 6:15 a.m.
PSSC – Our next PSSC meeting will be held on Monday, January 16th at 6:30 pm.
Healthy Snacks Canteen
Next week our canteen will operate every day at recess offering the following snacks:
Monday, Wednesday – Popcorn
Tuesday, Thursday – Yogurt tubes, Cheese Strings, Fruit Bars, etc.
Friday – Ice Cream
We have many students going to the PLEP room each day looking for snacks, breakfast items, and
lunches. If you are able to donate any of the following items, it would help with the cost of
providing this service. Items required: peanut free granola bars, fruit cups, bread, cheese whiz,
jam, non-hydrogenated margarine.
- Chess Club is being held every Thursday at 12:25 pm.
- Badminton Sports Night Grades 4 and 5 – to be announced
- Tryouts for Summerhill Badminton Team – on going – team will be announced
- Monday and Wednesday noon hours – badminton intramurals, all grades
- Jump Team practice Thursday at noon
- Respect Yourself and others poster contest – winners to be announced
- Clusters – the third round will begin on Friday, January 20th.
- District Badminton Championships – January 27th at OHS
Student of the Month Assembly:
This Friday, January 13 , parents are invited to attend our awards assembly at 10:50 am.
Family Literacy Evening
January 27 is National Literacy Day, and on Thursday evening January 26th we will be hosting a
“Family Literacy Evening”. An email will be sent home in the near future with further details. This
should be an exciting evening for the whole family.
Literacy Tip – Re-reading favorite books and poems will increase your child’s understanding of the text.

The next installment of the Wellness Speaker Series is on January 25th at Oromocto High School.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Addleman. The topic is Mental Fitness and Addiction. These topics are of
paramount importance to the wellness of our youth and our communities.
