Troop 476 Committee Meeting notes Feb 27, 2006
Tonight’s Agenda was approved.
Last month’s minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s report – Dave Guthrie not present
QM’s report. Acquiring some Propane Stoves, save the Dragonflis for High
Adventure backpacking. We will not store gas as it is a safety hazard, but
procure for each trip.
Discussion – For the cost of 1 dragonfly, we can get 4 or 5 propane stoves.
There is a concern that we will lose the knowledge base of using the dragonflies.
New people attending Committee meeting. Tom Guntly and Angelis Duffy, Pack
415, Jaspal Kohi, Tad Davis, Luis Jevons, Mike Klein , Pack 457, and Mark
Moralis, Pack 328, already joined Troop.
Scout-o-Rama – May 13th at Kelly Park. The troop will be participating at a Patrol
FOS of to a good start wilt the Council at 35% of its goal already.
Council is planning upgrades to Cheseborough and Hi-Sierra. This includes a
climbing Touwer at Chesborough.
Clarification of Youth Protection Training. Need at least on trained adult on every
Lynne Crane needs e-mail addresses to keep updating the Troop e-mail system.
Snow Camp Out – we owe $144 for portable toilet, no receipt yet. 15 Scouts and
5 adults went. Everyone slept in a snow cave. (The adults cave collapsed
Holy Name Room Clean up. – Going well. Robert Nessler has signed up for
Court of Honor – nice evening. Chocolate milk was a hit. Rudy and Jasper did a
Scout Sunday Services. – should have saved 2 not 1 pew.
West Fair – Dave Low and Cal Gabriel. Went well woith rope bridge, tents,
stoves, slide show and donuts. Wesley and the boys talkled to the adults. 32
Webelos signed in. 1 has already bridged, maybe 20 joining the Troop in all.
Mount Diablo – great weather, good hiking, even had ice-cream at the top!!
Activities – planning
St. Patrick’s Day Dinner – service project. We need a minimum of 8 Scouts,
preferably 10 or 12. Starts at 6:30pm. Pizza is provided!!
Set up will be on Thursday.
Mother’s Day Breakfast. – Mr. Gibes is doing this – has started already (learned
from last year!) Maybe families can support the breakfast by providing food. This
is a good way for new families to become involved. We will discuss more next
FOS Jonathan Leder our District Executive for Polaris, along with Mae, ga=ve a
presentation. There are 10,000 youth in SCCC. We are asking for 100%
participation, however much you can afford. Don’t forget that many companies
will match your contribution.
Training. For Assistant Scout Master, you need to to take. 1) New Leader
Essentials, 2)Leader Specific Training and 3) Outdoor Leader Training.
Our Troop encourages every parent to become a Merit Badge Counselor, you
need to take the Merit Badge Counselor Training.
Florida Sea Base Cal showed us an informational slide show. You have to be 14,
June 16 – 24, 2007 cost is around $1,300
There are two options. 1) crewing the schooner and 2) one based at the Brinton
Environmental Centre, may include:- deep sea fishing, marine biology, sea
kayaking with and overnight on an uninhabited island. Sign ups and $100
deposit is due…….now!
