Primary Coordinator Job Description
1. Senior Leadership & Management Team (SLMT):
(i) Attend and contribute to all requested meetings with the Principal and School Directors, and
other School Coordinators as appropriate;
(ii) Maintain the confidentiality of meetings and discussions held with the SLMT and School
Directors;
(iii) Fully support the Principal and School Directors in terms of final decisions made and School
Policies agreed; promote the School’s Vision and Mission; act as a link between the Primary
staff and the SLMT;
(iv) Assist in the development, implementation and promotion of School Policies;
(v) Keep the Principal, in the first instance, fully informed of key incidents relevant to the
Primary School and, where appropriate, the Whole-School;
(vi) Serve on the School Disciplinary Panel to immediately investigate and conclude disciplinary
issues as requested by the Principal in relation to serious cases of student misconduct or
staff malpractice;
(vii) Assist the Principal as directed with Staff Appraisal programmes;
(viii) Attend all Primary and whole-School events involving parents and the wider community;
(ix) Seek to enhance the School through creative thinking and initiative taking;
(x) Carry out all requested duties as reasonably requested by the Principal and School Directors.
2. Primary School Coordination:
(i) Serve as a role model for both students and teachers in terms of self-discipline, organization,
presentation, and as subject practitioner, manager and leader;
(ii) Assist the Principal in ensuring that agreed deadlines are met by Primary School staff,
through reminders including memorandum;
(iii) Collect by each Friday, check and return by Monday morning on a weekly basis lesson plans
for Primary School classes; provide to the Principal for quality assurance own lesson plans by
Saturday for ‘modeled’ / team-taught lessons;
(iv) Ensure the appropriate delivery of the Primary School curriculum, and lead on its
development in light of the latest UK practice;
(v) Inform the Principal of, and follow-up as directed, any issue of non-observance by staff in the
Primary School Section of agreed School Policies;
(vi) Informally observe lessons in the Primary School Section when possible; be clearly visible to
both teachers and students; ensure the learning environment is appropriately
maintained/updated;
(vii) Formally, when requested, co-observe with the Principal teachers in the Primary School
Section or Whole-School, moderate observations and provide feedback to teachers in line
with School Policy;
(viii) Regularly audit and plan for the training needs of the Primary Staff, and contribute to whole-
staff professional development as requested by the Principal, and Directors;
(ix) Maintain visibility in the Primary School Section, making regular checks of the corridors and
stairwells, and re-directing students where necessary; ensure the safety of all students;
(x) Establish a programme for, and lead in collaboration with the Principal or appointed staff the
Primary School Assemblies each week;
(xi) Ensure that Primary School Form Teachers are supervising their students in line with School
Policy;
(xii) Plan and lead, in collaboration with the Principal, a bi-monthly Primary School Meeting, and
provide to the Principal soft copies of the Agenda and Minutes;
(xiii) Oversee the writing, conduct, and completion of internal School Examinations sat by Primary
School Section students; where necessary assist the VPA with any externally sat
examinations;
(xiv) Oversee the implementation of Primary School Curricula, and carry out resource audits
regularly;
(xv) Monitor the collection and reporting of student assessment data; ensure all reports are
proof-read prior to dissemination;
(xvi) Work to develop the expertise through training and opportunity the role of the Assistant
Coordinator of Primary School (ACP); develop over time (e.g. by end of Term 2, 2011) areas
of agreed responsibility for the ACP;
3. Parents and School Community:
(i) Provide prospective Parents, and visitors with information about the School and its
admission process;
(ii) Keep Parents and Guardians regularly informed of immediate issues relating to students in
the Primary School Section – both pastoral and academic; follow-up on any parental
requests;
(iii) In coordination with the Principal, produce newsletters relevant to the Primary School
Section or Whole-School as requested;
(iv) Assist in the planning and conduct of Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC) and ensure the
readiness of Primary School Staff for such meetings;
(v) Promote the School appropriately in the wider Community; seek to establish positive and
beneficial relationships with School Community members;
(vi) Take a lead on the organisation and delivery of student events that involve parents and the
wider community.
