In 1999, a group of dedicated New Brunswick professionals formed the Project Management
Institute - New Brunswick Chapter (PMI-NB) www.pmi-nb.ca, which was officially incorporated
as a non-profit organization by the New Brunswick (NB) government on June 5, 2000 and was
designated as a Chapter by PMI® headquarters on June 19, 2000. Though provincial in scope,
there are three primary centres in Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton.

The PMI-NB Chapter consists of over 170 members. PMI-NB manages professional study
groups, hosts business dinner/luncheon meetings and conducts project management forums.
Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and other Provincial activities are currently rotated between
Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton with each center holding its own local events.

Since project management is a key activity in many industries, the PMI-NB Chapter wishes to
work with all professional organizations in New Brunswick to provide additional benefits and to
foster professionalism in New Brunswick.

Additional Benefits of belonging to our local PMI New Brunswick chapter include:

         Becoming part of a local movement by joining the New Brunswick chapter
         Attending chapter meetings
         Opportunities to network with peers within the local community
         Continue your education with informative and interesting presentations, and by
           attending professional development activities through educational workshops and

If you have your PMP certification, belonging to the local chapter provides opportunities to
network with other project managers, and the opportunity to earn PDUs through professional
development seminars, workshops, speaking engagements, and through volunteering as a
subject matter expert (SME) at PMP Study Groups.

PMI chapters offer their members many opportunities to assume leadership roles. These leaders
have the advantage of being at the forefront of information regarding PMI’s new programs,
initiatives and communications. It also provides members with an opportunity to give back to the
organization and the profession.
