UPDATE FALL 2008 PAgE TWO
people helping people and pets!
Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society and the Halcyon
Home for battered women began collaboration several years ago
when Charles Terrell brought these two wonderful and worthwile
non-profits together. He made a generous certificate of deposit
donation to assist pets involved in domestic abuse situations.
Chris Marsh, Executive Director for the Halcyon Home, and Carol
Jones, Executive Director of the Humane Society have used the
interest from this certificate to assist special pets in our community
and for the past six years have worked together on this special
collaboration. Rose City Federal Credit Union proved three isn’t
always a crowd when they offered to assist Chris and Carol. Our Credit Union acquired umbrellas
from Marketing Communications of Boston and announced
at our Annual Meeting that members could purchase them for
a minimum donation of $5 to the agency of their choice. On
July 17th $1000.00 in donations raised by YOU, our members,
was used to present each agency with a check for $500.00.
Donations are still being received at the office for umbrellas,
magnets and koozies for the Humane Society, and a cookbook
titled “Recipes from the Hearts of Our Supporters” for the
Halcyon Home in order to assist with ongoing needs. A special
thanks to all members who have made contributions.
Carol, Chris, Lee and friends!
