ASBESTOS AWARENESS IN BUILDINGS
FOR: Persons who have responsibility for managing construction, refurbishment and maintenance projects in UCL buildings and plants and, other areas under UCL control, such as, building officers, engineers, supervisors, maintenance staff and safety officers. To enable an understanding of the problems relating to asbestos bearing materials and the precautions necessary to reduce the risks to those involved in sampling, removal etc., and the supervision of asbestos removal contractors. What is asbestos, why the use and where they can be found; health hazards of asbestos; what the law says with regards to working with asbestos; how to manage asbestos risk; assessing the health risks from asbestos; safe working methods and equipment; maintaining control measures; emergency procedures, waste disposal; and medical surveillance No charge to UCL staff
