STANDARD CHARTERED WINS INNOVATION AWARD FOR
CUSTOMER SERVICE
HONG KONG, August 23, 2002 – Standard Chartered has won a prestigious Peppers
and Rogers Group Asia 1to1(R) Innovator Award for its responsiveness and creativity in
improving customer service. The Bank was one of only four companies chosen for this
honour.
To achieve its goal to be the right partner for its customers and actively provide solutions
for their needs, Standard Chartered Bank is improving the customer experience through
an incremental, yet integrated sales and service change process. This involves both the
call centre and front-line resources, enabling greater responsiveness to rising customer
expectations.
“Our employees are the key to delivering the promises we make. Over the years we’ve
made a significant investment in training and resources to support our people in their
ability to deliver outstanding customer service. This has been of great benefit to the
business, and we are now honoured to receive this industry recognition,” said Peter
Wong, Director of Standard Chartered Bank.
Peppers and Rogers Group is a management-consulting firm recognised as the world's
leading authority on customer-based business strategy. The Asia 1to1(R) Innovator
Awards showcase leading companies that have implemented creative and effective
initiatives designed to attract, keep and grow customers. Standard Chartered’s award
comes as a further recognition of the Bank’s commitment to customer service. In 2001
the Bank won a Hong Kong Productivity Council Award for Services and a Hong Kong
General Chamber of Commerce Innovation Award for Straight Through Services.
“Given our customer service initiatives, the Bank was invited to work closely with the
Hong Kong Productivity Council to promote customer relationship management
education. We were delighted to learn that they had nominated us for the Peppers and
Rogers Group Asia 1to1(R) Innovator Award,” said Steven Parker, Head Customer
Sales and Service, Standard Chartered.
Standard Chartered will receive their award at a ceremony in Singapore today.
