                                     The Look For Less
                                                By Rachel Forlifer
Everytime I look at the fashion shows in New York, Milan, and Paris, I start to dream about all of the amazing outfits. Luxurious
fabrics, beautiful prints, bright colors, impeccable tailoring…if only I could afford those outfits. And I am not alone in this thought.
That’s exactly what so many college students think when they see designer clothes on the runway. When one shirt could cost more than
double the amount for one semester of textbooks, designer clothes just aren’t an option. But there is an alternative! With some diligence
and research, cheaper substitutes to designer looks can be found. The following three looks are examples of how to get the look for less.

                                               Look #1:
The Seventies are a big trend for spring. Designers such as Marc Jacobs,
Rodarte, and Altuzarra are infatuated with this decade’s glamour yet
minimalism. One thing for sure, high-waisted pants with wide legs are
everywhere. Derek Lam’s Spring 2011 collection is a great example of this.
I decided to replicate his look with a pair of jeans from Arden B for $59,
a (shockingly similar) white blouse from Asos for $45, and a pair of Steve
                                               Madden wedges for $100.

Look #2:
We all know trench coats are a fashion classic, but who has ever heard of a
trench dress? Well, it is a new favorite of designers including Nicole Miller,
Burberry, and DKNY (as shown). It is perfect for when you need to look chic
and sophisticated, say an interview for an internship or job. Pair this dress from
Asos for $86 with heels and you are good to go.

                                                                                             com, Asos.com

                        Look #3:
From citrus orange to emerald green, bold colors are in. Prabal Gurung focused
on sky blue and orange, while Rachel Roy was inspired by plum and teal. Many
designers paired bright colors together in otherwise simple looks. This trend is
ideal for going out. A teal American Apparel skirt for $16 paired with a silky
purple shirt from Asos for $23 is guaranteed to get you a fun night.

   GENERATOR’S TOP TEN:
PLACES ON CAMPUS TO GET SOME SECRETIVE LOVIN’
We’ve all been in the situation where you have met a slammin’ hotty or dialed up
your favorite late night booty call, the only problem is, you need somewhere to
go that’s both spontaneous and secluded. The Generator is your friend at this
juncture, so relax for a few minutes, give your lips a rest and choose the most
viable option for you and your fellow emergency pleasure seeker.

10. Library: Though it sounds cliché, a little sex in the stacks never hurt
anyone. If you get the rare chance to let James Cannavino see your stuff, please
be considerate to those looking for distractions from capping papers.

9. McCann Center: You head there during the day to get your workout in,
why shouldn’t you do the same at night. There is an unused practice field behind
McCann that is complete with a row of concrete benches. Be sure to get an
athletic workout in back there before renovations start on the new arena.

8. Donnelly Hall: In the basement of Donnelly there are many side hallways
that are very secluded. Since the building is open 24/7 this is an easy place to
hit up. So bust out of your lab coat and do some late night experimenting.

7. WMAR Studio: Not only can you steam up the windows of the small
room, but you can play yourself some nice smooth love-making music. The
difficulty level is high however, with College Activities in the way. Oh and be sure
not to turn up your microphone volume and broadcast your fun campus-wide.

6. Lowell Thomas: Late at night the doors to Marist’s Communications
building are occasionally left unlocked. If you are lucky enough to get in, you can find a lot of one-on-one time in one of the
back hallways of the basement dungeon. Now when you are in your third class in that windowless hell hole on a Monday,
you have a good memory to think back on.
                                                 5. Jazzman’s Café: For those feeling slightly more risky, you may wish
to check out Jazzman’s after hours. Swipe in and you have washers, dryers,
workout equipment, and even a couch to your disposal. Just beware that
everything is windowed, and some insomniacs enjoy lack of wait for washers.
