LCDR Jennifer Jones COA Liaison LCDR Jennifer Jones is the BCOAG Commissioned Officers Association (COA) liaison. She is currently a Nurse Epidemiologist assigned to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Detention Operations, ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC). She has been with DHS since 2006 and is responsible for the infection control program and tuberculosis case management. LCDR Jones completed her Master’s degree in Public Health at Emory University in 2009 and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Nursing at Marymount University. LCDR Jennifer Jones began her nursing career in 1999 as a fellow in the Emergency Department of the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC after completing her bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Armstrong Atlantic State University. After mastering a broad range of skills as an emergency room and trauma nurse, she accepted a position in the Special Investigations Unit at BlueCross BlueShield of the National Capital Area where she investigated and reviewed hospital and outpatient claims for potential fraud and overutilization of services. In 2002, LCDR Jones accepted a position as a Health Insurance Specialist with the Atlanta Regional Office of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) where she performed federal surveys of nursing homes and psychiatric hospitals. She was elevated to the CMS Central Office Division of Continuing Care Providers in Woodlawn, MD where she was responsible for program management and surveyor training. LCDR Jones has been an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service since 2005. She was the Chair of the Retention Subcommittee in 2010 and has served as a member of both the Fundraising Committee and Community Outreach Committee. She served as BCOAG’s Correspondence Secretary in 2010.
