Norene Viola (Frantz) Krug, 82, of Ubly passed away on Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at the
Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. Norene was born on May 13, 1920 in Ubly to the
late William and Elizabeth (Johnson) Frantz. She married Captain Henry S. Krug in
1943 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1983. Norene was a graduate of
Ubly High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Pepsi-Cola in Detroit. She moved
back to Ubly in 1946. She worked for Ubly Motor Service Ford Dealership in Ubly for
ten years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ubly since 1946. She
was a member of Rolling Hills Golf Club of Cass City, and an honorary member of the
Ubly Community Club. She bowled for the Thumb Electric Team for many years. She
enjoyed reading, golfing, cards, baking, sewing and traveling world wide. Norene is
survived by one son, Edward J. Krug and his wife, Dianne, of Port Austin; one daughter,
Sheryl Horetski and her husband, Gerald, of Kinde; two brothers, Willis "Barney" Frantz
of Youngstown, Ohio, Dr. Douglas Frantz and his wife, Arlene, of Traverse City; two
sisters-in-law, Delores Frantz of Florida, Ruth Frantz of California; three grandchildren,
Kristopher Krug and his wife, Angela, of Mt. Clemens, Scott Horetski of Filion, Todd
Horetski of Kinde; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Scott Krug of Mt. Clemens; one
step grandson, Rick Hale and his wife, Tiffany, of Florida; one step great-grandchild,
Brooke Hale of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Norene was preceded in death
by three sisters, Nellie Clensy, Edna Nelson and Greta Frantz; four brothers, Elwood
"Jum" Frantz, Leonard "Pete" Frantz, Frederick "Freddy" Frantz and Harold "Huck"
Frantz. Funeral service for Norene Krug will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at
the First Presbyterian Church of Ubly. Mr. Mike Gage will officiate. Burial will be in the
Valley Cemetery of Ubly. Cremation took place at the Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay
City. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Arrangements
are being handled by the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly. Memorials
requested to the First Presbyterian Church of Ubly or Huron Memorial Hospice.
