7 Days Self-Discovery Journaling Challenge Begins February 20
CreateWriteNow launches a compact, seven-day course focused on using a
journal writing practice to achieve greater self knowledge and
confidence.
Boston, MA, February 14, 2012 -- Following on the heels of January's 27
Day Journaling Challenge, which helped over 100 participants gain greater
self-understanding through their journal writing practice, journaling
therapy specialist Mari L. McCarthy now presents a compact Challenge,
compressed into just seven days, February 20-26.
Recognizing that the pressures of life limit available time for so many
people, McCarthy has devised this short class as a way to expose a larger
public to the benefits of journal writing. Despite our overloaded
schedules, McCarthy advocates for journaling as a calming influence – one
that is seriously needed in our increasingly hectic world.
Within the seven days, participants journal intensively. They are guided
quickly through common complexities of the process and collect a large
amount of new information about their own motivations, personalities,
fears, and loves.
The course begins with an orientation towards writing by hand, strongly
suggested for the week's exercises. For many, this may be a challenge in
itself, since handwriting has mainly given way to the keyboard in these
computer-dominated times. McCarthy says that writing by hand is a shorter
route to self understanding.
The week continues with exercises that open up self awareness, including
work with the tendency to be highly self-critical and an examination of
fears that keep us from self-knowledge. The seven days conclude with
suggestions for sustained self growth going forward.
McCarthy publishes a website (http://CreateWriteNow.com) devoted to
journaling, as well as a series of ebooks – or e-workbooks, as she calls
them – showing how to apply journal writing to a large variety of life's
challenges. Topics have included ways in which journaling can be used in
self-discovery, job searches, losing weight, overcoming writer's block,
and a host of health and wellness issues.
The course is free, though participants must register in advance and
purchase a workbook ($16.97). A private online classroom and private
sessions with McCarthy are included in the Challenge. Details and
registration can be found at http://www.createwritenow.com/Who-Are-You-
