Report cards were issued on 10/24. Progress reports will be issued the week of 11/7. Please check your child’s
grades and attendance. Some students are in danger of losing credit because of absences. We have already lost
some students for the year because of fighting or excessive skipping. Please encourage your child to follow all
rules, complete assignments, study and learn as much as he/she can so that he/she will be prepared for college and
life. Tutoring is available Tues., Wed., and Thurs. afterschool. There is no excuse for failure.

Do research. Look up the schools and scholarships online in which you are interested. I receive a lot of information in the
guidance office which I will distribute directly to you, but there are many other opportunities that are available. Most colleges
and universities have an abundance of institutional scholarships. Go to the financial aid and/or scholarship pages on their
websites or email them to request a listing of scholarships that their schools offer. Schools will mail the information to you.
Watch those deadlines! Schools have both admission and scholarship deadlines, some as early as November. Find out what
they are and stick to them! Not knowing the deadline is not a valid excuse for missing it.
Complete applications early. The time to apply is NOW!!! You can apply to virtually all schools online at this time. Most
schools will ask you to pay the application fee online with a credit card, but some will waive your application fee if you
complete it online. After you finish your application, you can mail it or it can be mailed with your transcript. If you want a fee
waiver, I will need to mail the application, fee waiver and transcript at the same time. You may see me Thursdays during the
lunch waves or anytime you have a pass from your teacher or after school.
The Common Application, which allows you to apply to multiple schools at one time, is also available online at
www.commonapp.org.
