China Automobile Design Competition of the First Automobile Award
Invitation
As the flagship of the national auto industry, by holding the faith in “First auto, first partner”, FAW applied itself
to pursuing the dream of “Utilizing national auto industry to start the future life” all the time. In order to
encourage the new generation of national auto design and maintain the sustainable development of auto
industry, FAW decided to hold “the second China Automobile Design Competition of the First Automobile
awards” towards all design schools in the world from December in 2007 to April in 2008.
In hope of making it one of the most international and academic automobile design competitions in the world
and a cradle for future auto designers in China, by the competition, we wish to start the most meaningful auto
design enlightenment in China in the long run. Therefore, we now invite you sincerely by this letter to take an
active part in “the second CADC of the First Automobile Awards” and share the great moments with us.

Aims
The most international and academic automobile design competition in China;
A cradle for future automobile designers in China;
The most meaningful automobile design enlightenment in the long run in China
Designing theme
Theme: Energy efficient and spacious
Energy has become an extremely essential element influencing the development of automobile industry. This
competition is aimed at the discussions on energy efficient, replacements, environment improvement, life style
and possibility of future automobile development.
Selection standards
The organizing committee will evaluate the designing projects based on the following elements:
● Innovation: maximizing your imagination, offering the most distinctive idea.;
● Technology: taking the application of new technology and materials into consideration, including the
requirements in energy and environment;
● Aesthetic: adding your understanding of cultural background and aesthetic tastes to your design;
● Expression: whether your expressions coincide with your design aims will also be considered.

Qualifications
1. The competition is held towards the students majored in industrial design, transportation tools design and
the related design of colleges (including campus institutes) in the whole world. All the students conformed
to the requirements of above are qualified to participate in the competition.
2. The organizing committee reserves the right to assess the qualifications of the participants. Any
participants are found unqualified or provide false information in filling in the qualification forms will be
disqualified by the organizing committee no matter at what phase.
3. You can participate in both individuals or teams (with no more than 2 members).
Requirements for design works
1. Originality designed specially for this competition is a must;
2. Each participant can submit one piece of work;
3. Your design should conclude the following elements:
3.1 Paper work of design
●Original draft;
●Design from three perspectives;
●Whole effect picture of design
●Fractional effect picture of design
●Explanation for design.
3.2 Electronic version documents of the elements above（Alias, Pro-e, Catia or UG documents is needed for
model making）。
3.3 It would be better to provide the model in the proportion of 1:10.
4. Specifications of design works

4.1 Paper work of design A2 (420mmX594mm) horizontal, hard cardboard can be mounted Works overseas
can be delivered with rolled packages）。
4.2 E-documents：Resolution of 300dpi, in the form of TIFF;
4.3 No limitations to the expressions of your design works, fully present your design ideas and advantages;
5 Marks: write down your name, college and software tools (when choose a computer to make) or expressing
way like gouache, watercolor and powdery ink, etc.
6 Explanation for design: the explanations have to be delivered together with the paper work of design. Be

careful: the explanations have to be printed separately;
6.1 The explanations should be typed in both Chinese and English, be precise and to the point, no more
than 1000 words;
6.2 The E-documents of explanations should be saved in the form of Microsoft Word.
Documents wanted and submission

1 Documents delivered includes: 《Application form》 《Letter of Commitments》、design work and its
e-documents;
2 Submit the > signed together with your design work;
3The participants should submit all documents required in the competition, the short or miss of any individual
document will be considered to give up the competition;
4 The documents in competition are to be posted or sent by express mail by the designer or his/her authorized

5 The documents in competition except for 《Application form》should be delivered to the Organizing
Committee office by the end of 4p.m on Monday on March31, 2008 according to Beijing Standard Time.
6 The organizing committee will not accept any documents in competition late for the deadline.
7 All the documents will not be returned, please keep a copy for you.
8 The organizing committee will inform the participants by email or phone calls after received your documents.
General principles for competition
1 With the delivery of the 《Application form》and 《Letter o f Commitments》, the participant agrees that the
holder(that is, FAW) possesses the intellectual property of the chosen and awarded design works, while the
designer reserves the right of signature. Any organizations and individuals can not use it in any form without
approval.
2 The participant takes all the responsibilities individually in this competition.
3 The holder reserves the right to accept or refuse any application of asking for participation. If necessary, the
holder can amend the assessing standard.
4 The holder reserves the right to allow the absence of proper winners.
5 The participant agrees that the holder will not answer for any compensation in any form.
6 If there is dispute on the results, all subject to the results of the final assessment.
7 The Organizing Committee reserves the right of final explanations.
