Dear A+ Advantage Point Learning:

I spent most of last Friday reviewing other district contracts and going over district procedures in

preparation for this Friday’s Provider Showcase. Numerous initial, follow-up, and third party forms have

been received and I am now in the process of verification and call back requests from the parents in

coordination with the principal at TCE.

Here is an update on this week’s FAQ:

Parent Communication

Q: Are parents coming to the Provider Showcase?

A: Yes. At this time there are about 30 undecided, yet interested, parents who indicated they will be

there.

Q: Where do we send registrations we have already received?

A: Registrations must be on the district form and have already been received. Any registrations received

after the 10-15-10 end of the day first window will be contacted prior to the January second opportunity

for enrollment.

Q: What time does the showcase begin?

A1: We will begin the provider meeting with just the district staff from 4:00 to 5:00 in the middle

conference room to go over SU procedures and answer questions.

A2: We will transition into the board room from 5:00 to 6:00 and provide you with table space to set up

materials and be available to answer questions. The board tables are in a horse shoe configuration with

audience chairs in rows. Providers may sit at the board member seats on the outside while parents

circulate the inside of the horse shoe asking questions and receiving information.

Q: Can parents sign up with a provider at this time?

A: Yes. This is a narrowing of the list from the184 eligible and 89 ODE cap to the approximate 50 who

indicated interest in writing so far. Most did not indicate a choice on the original form. Several indicated

verbally upon returning phone requests who they wanted. The district will honor the final decision of the

parents as to whom they wish to contract with when they turn in the district form at this event.

Q: What is the next step for parents after the showcase?

A: Parents will receive a packet of information as well as the classroom teacher (grade level as well as

SpEd if applicable) to complete prior to services beginning in order to set goal targets for the student.

Facility Use

Q: Where do we get a facilities request form?

A: The two forms are in triplicate and cannot be emailed. Blank forms can be mailed upon request, but

will not be reviewed until after student registration forms are received. Copies will be available at the

provider 4:00 meeting.

Q: Are there fees for use of district facilities?

A: Yes. This will be determined once the request forms are received and are reviewed at our district

office. District policy has three classifications for fee assessment. Most providers will be in the third (for

profit group) while some may be in the second (non-profit group) category.

Q: Who do we contact for facility use?

A: The sole contact for SES Providers remains myself. Email, phone, or fax my contact info. Please be

specific when talking with my office manager, or leaving a message that you are an approved provider.

Q: What rooms are available for use?

A: Depending on the number of students and on-site providers chosen, we will determine which rooms

would best suit the needs of the tutoring session. At this time, two rooms are already identified and will

be scheduled first.

Q: What are the hours school is in session or the building available?

A: School is in session from 8:55 to 3:30. The building is available from 8:15-8:45am and from 3:40 to

6:00pm.

Provider Contracts, Assurances and Clearances

Q: What does your district require for background checks and security clearances?

A: These are required prior to service delivery. The procedures are under review. We have two systems

in place for staff and community volunteers that take about two weeks. You will be notified once a

determination is made which applies to your personnel.

Q: When do you expect contracts to be available?

A: These are required prior to service delivery. The contract is in draft form. District legal counsel will

still need to review and respond. You will receive draft copies at the 4:00 meeting.

Sincerely,
