Exports of all wood products for reporting countries in 2004
totaled $65.7 billion, a 25 percent increase from 2003. The
world’s leading exporter of wood products was Canada ($17.3
billion), followed by the EU-25 ($10.4 billion) and the United
States ($6.2 billion).

Exports of softwood logs for reporting countries in 2004 totaled
$3.7 billion, a 19 percent increase from 2003. The world’s
leading exporter of softwood logs was Russia ($1.8 billion),
followed by the United States ($869 million) and Canada ($349
million).

Exports of hardwood logs for reporting countries in 2004 totaled
$2.1 billion, a 11 percent increase from 2003. The world’s
leading exporter of hardwood logs was the United States ($603
million), followed by Malaysia ($525 million) and Russia ($483
million).

$15.3 billion, a 32 percent increase from 2003. The world’s leading
exporter of softwood lumber was Canada ($8.5 billion), followed
by the EU-25 ($2.6 billion) and Russia ($1.5 billion).
