The reasons that men may
lie about cheating varies from individual to individual.
While this is in no way a complete list, they are some of the
more common reasons why men might lie about cheating.
The #1 reason that men may lie about cheating is guilt...
Willfully cheating on someone you love holds a lot of shame for the person who does the cheating. This
is a common reason that men lie about cheating... they think by lying they can somehow avoid the guilt
associated with what they have done.
The 2nd reason that men lie about cheating is because they want to have "everything" that they want.
They don't want to lose either partner that they are involved with, so they lie so they won't be "prevented" from
being involved with either partner.
They know telling the truth will hurt their relationships and may ultimately lead to ruin, and at the very
least force them to make a "choice" that they don't want to make.
Why do men lie about cheating?...Reason #3, to avoid financial issues. If they are married and their
spouse finds out about the affair, it may be used against them in any divorce settlement. So men may lie to
avoid their spouse filing for divorce and then having to split or give up some of their possessions.
A 4th reason that there may be lies about cheating is for social status. A man worried about his
reputation will do whatever he has to to protect his image, therefore lying about any affairs would be common
for those in such a position.
The #5 reason why men might lie about cheating is that they feel it was a "mistake" for what ever
reason, and don't want to hurt the one they love with the truth or risk losing their relationship over what they
have done.
While it's easy to ask the question of "Why do men lie about cheating?", a bigger and more important
question may be "Why do men cheat" in the first place?
