Writing a Sensible Business Proposal

A sensible business proposal is written by keeping in mind the reader and his/her needs. The aim of

writing a proposal is to obtain the appreciation and acceptance of the client. Thus, the proposal should

not only be well-written, but should also render an unforgettable impression on the mind of the reader.

Then, what can you do to enhance the quality of the proposal letter and ensure that the targeted clients

are greatly impacted with your thoughts and ideas? Try to solve these basic queries, like

 What are your responsibilities in the project?

 What will you do to fulfill your responsibility?

 How long will it take to complete the project?

 What will be the estimated total cost?

There is no specific format for writing proposals, but all well-written proposals will contain at least the

following:

Executive summary – Executive summary refers to the short description of the proposal, and it includes

aims and objectives, implementation details and the expected results. It should be written in around 500

or 600 words and should not exceed one page. Executive summary should be written in the last when

you have answered all the above questions.

Need – It includes detailed depiction of the existing business problem & what is the need of addressing

the problem. Here, you would like to give full detail of the project and its importance to the overall

strength and wellbeing of the business.

Objectives – This is the most important section of the business proposal. Here, you should include the

expected outcomes of the whole venture. The clients would like to read that what benefits they are

going to achieve after the project gets completed. Thus, it is better to include each detail regarding the

completion of targets.

Methods – In this section, give details about the methods to be used for completion of the project. For

instance: If the project relates to website design, ‘methods’ section would include what technologies

would you use…ASP, PHP, HTML, Flash or other.

This is all! By this time, you will have a well-written proposal in your hands. You can include any other

important detail, depending upon the type of venture. Thus, writing proposals is not very complex

process; you just need to know what has to be included in it. There are several proposal software

products and proposal templates available, which can be employed to create effective proposals. These

products help in creating writing business proposals easily.
