Community Grant Program
The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of its Community
Grant Program. The Alliance supports San Luis Obispo County charities and will continue to gift funds to
organizations with programs focused on healthcare, education and community services.
The Alliance invites your organization to complete the 2011 grant application for funds to be gifted in the
community. The Alliance seeks proposals that are clear, well documented with facts, present a complete picture
of the community impact and provides measureable results. An invitation to formally apply does not guarantee
that the proposal will be approved and funded. Funds will be gifted in December 2011.
Proposals containing all of the items specified in the attached application, including all requested attachments
and the Organization and Proposal Information form, will be reviewed and considered for funds.
Grant Application Timeline
Friday, September 1, 2011 – Invitation to apply for Community Grant Program
Friday, September 30, 2011 – Completed application, requested attachment of forms included
must be received at the Alliance office by 3 p.m.
Monday, October 3, 2011 – Alliance staff will confirm with organization that completed
applications have been received
Week of November 21 – Organizations approved for funding will be notified of award and
formal letters of awards will be sent to organizations

COMMUNITY GRANT PROGRAM
THE PASO ROBLES WINE COUNTRY ALLIANCE FOUNDATION is a 501 c 3 non-profit member-based organization
representing nearly 500 winery, grower, hospitality partner and related business members in Paso Robles Wine
Country. Through the collective efforts of its membership, the Alliance markets the Paso Robles Wine Region, as
defined by the Paso Robles American Viticulture Area (AVA), as a destination for travelers to visit as well as a
brand for trade, media and wine enthusiasts to choose when making wine buying decisions.

The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance is the non-profit trade association responsible for positioning,
promoting and enhancing the Paso Robles American Viticultural Area (AVA).
CORE BELIEFS
1. Our distinct characteristics make the Paso Robles AVA one of the highest quality wine producing
regions in the world.
2. Marketing and promoting the attributes of our diverse wine region enhances the value of our
products.
3. Offering leadership and educational resources give members opportunities to optimize their products
and businesses.
4. Engaging and educating our community and government leadership encourages them to preserve and
share our Core Beliefs.
5. Embracing sustainable agricultural practices helps to ensure agriculture’s future viability and

THE PASO ROBLES WINE COUNTRY ALLIANCE FOUNDATION COMMUNITY GRANT PROGRAM supports San Luis
Obispo County charities and has gifted more than $283,000 in the past six years. Funds for community gifting
are generated from the Alliance produced, Zinfandel Festival and Wine Festival Wine Country Auctions and are
gifted to organizations with programs focused on healthcare, education and community services.
THE GRANT PROGRAM
GUIDELINES for the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance Foundation Community Grant Program
The following describes the purpose of the grant program, eligibility criteria, and the procedure to follow in
submitting your grant proposal. Please review these guidelines carefully and submit your proposal in the
requested format.
PURPOSE
The purpose of our Community Grant Program is to help sustain the community’s social services. Alliance grants
will support local programs emphasizing health, education and community services.

Funds for the grant program are raised through the Wine Country Auctions events produced by the Wine
Alliance. Members of the Alliance along with other community supporters donate items for wine enthusiasts to
purchase rare and unique experiences. Available funds generated through the auctions are gifted to the
selected non-profits in the fourth quarter of the year. A committee reviews each grant and the Alliance Board of
Directors ultimately determines the where funds are gifted each year.
We fund projects that:
Promote and enhance education
Supports and encourages a healthy lifestyle
Educates and trains individuals about health and wellness
We give priority to projects that:
Impact a significant number of individuals
Reflect a comprehensive approach to community development
Serves as models for other education, health and/or community service organizations
ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA
Applicant organizations must meet the following criteria:
Nonprofit Corporation with proof of 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt status;
Evidence of successful completion of education, health and/or community service projects;
Strong board involvement and competent leadership;
Proven track records of projects accomplished in the community.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Your application must include:
1. Cover letter, on your stationary, signed by your director
2. Narrative (no more than two pages) that includes:
o Project Description
Brief statement of problem to be address
Goals and objectives
Target population
Project activities
Key staff
o Plan for measuring project results
3. Project Budget (expenses and income)
4. Organization Background (mission, major activities, and credentials for carrying our project)
5. Conclusion (brief statement of long-term project plan)
6. Appendices (attachments)
Certificate of Incorporation and By-Laws
Verification of tax-exempt status
List of officers and Board of Directors
Organization Operating Budget
List of other current funding sources and uses
Consultant/subcontractor commitment letters (if applicable)
Support letters or endorsements (limited to two)
Project report if Alliance Grant dollars were provided the previous year

THE GRANT REVIEW and AWARD PROCESS
Applications containing all of the items specified above, including all requested attachments and the
Organization and Proposal Information form, will be reviewed and considered for funds. The completed
application must be received in our office on or before Friday, September 30, 2011, 3 p.m., Paso Robles Wine
Country Alliance, Attn: Community Grant Program, 530 10th Street, Paso Robles, California 93446.
The Alliance will acknowledge applications received beginning on Monday, October 3, 2011. Following the
review of the committee and the Alliance Board of Directors, if the Alliance is interested in funding your project,
you will be notified of the award the week of November 21, 2011 with a formal letter of notification to follow.
Funds will be gifted in December 2011.
