3decades of changing lives through the dignity of work
30 years ago, a group of inspired women launched AWEE to help individuals find the sense of dignity and self worth that comes with a good job and a steady paycheck.   AWEE’s services have helped more than 115,000 women, men and young adults.

                                                                                                      before the 90s? Remember “The Rachel?” Jennifer
                                                                                                      Aniston surely does. And what about Y2K fears,
                                                                                                                                                                              2000’s
                                                                                                                                                                             Names that changed our lives: Harry Potter,
                                                                                                                                                                             American Idol, iPOD, Katrina, Facebook, Twin
                                                                                                      three Nebraska Cornhusker national championships,
                                                                                                                                                                             Towers and Obama.
                                                                                                      Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Schindler’s List and




                  1980’s
                                                                                                      Forrest Gump?                                                          AWEE continued changing lives by:
                                                                                                                                                                             • Expanding programs for both women and men,
                                                                                                      Meanwhile, AWEE continued to grow:
                                                                                                                                                                               adding special populations including ex-offenders,
                                                                                                      • Jeanne Herberger, Mary Jane Rynd, Judi Butterworth,
                                                                                                                                                                               domestic violence victims, older at-risk youth,
                                                                                                        Sandy Cowen Miller and Susan Heywood organized the
