President's Corner

Fellow members,

Members of the GDRA leadership participated this past month in the Texas
Restaurant Association & the Texas Restaurant Association Education
Foundation State Board Meetings in San Antonio. This is a time when
members from across the state come together to work on important issues
such as education, government affairs, chapter development and leadership
development. As a member, you should take comfort in knowing that there is
a group of your peers working hard to help protect and grow your business. A few quick highlights
from the meetings include:

 The National Restaurant Association is working on a new national media campaign
highlighting the importance of dining out in America.
 "TRA Certified" is a new program that encompasses all of the certification programs
supported by the TRA - ServSafe Food Manager Certification, ServSafe Food Handler
Certification, and an Online Alcohol Seller/Server Certification. It allows for "one-stop"
shopping when it comes to certification.
 Each TRA Chapter has a goal to raise $55 per member to fund the TRA Political Action
Committee - a PAC that supports those candidates and office holders that understand our
        industry's issues.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to know more! I hope to see you at one of the many events
we have this month.
