Media and the Creative Process, MDIA 203
  Media and the Creative Process is designed to give media students a vocabulary and
  a base-level of experience in a variety of creative fields (sound design, music mixing,
  video shooting/editing, script writing, animation and game design). With a common
  experience and a common language, media students will be better prepared to
  collaborate on a deeper level as they matriculate through their media courses and
  their future careers in media.

Basic Video Production, MDIA 240
  Students learn the fundamentals of electronic field production. Upon completion of

    the course each student will have a firm grasp of the different roles involved in
    creating video communications and be prepared to carry out a variety of tasks in the
    world of professional video production. The assignments given in class are intended
    to cultivate and expand each student’s own creative voice within a structured
    framework much like one would experience in the professional environment.

Share Kenya: Non-fiction Storytelling, MDIA 480
  Through this trip, students will gain hands-on experience in short form, non-fiction
  storytelling. They will learn methods of research and content development,
  interviewing, writing, shooting, and editing short video segments to provide insights
  into the goals and activities of the SHARE Kenya Medical Team. Completed
  segments will be of suitable quality for screening on YouTube, the SHARE Kenya
  website and a SHARE Kenya blog to which students will be required to contribute.

Ball State University
Media Criticism and Analysis, TCOM 204
  Media Criticism and Analysis explores critical approaches to multiple media texts,
  examining their relationships to society and culture. This course explores today’s
  society, media, and the world in general, through many lenses; political, social,
  ethnic, and technological, challenging the attitudes and perspectives students
  currently possess.  

Scriptwriting: Writing for Electronic Media, TCOM 206
   Students gain an introduction to scriptwriting for electronic media. Students will
   learn the basic principles and elements used in the creation of entertainment scripts
   for multiple media programs.

Basic Video Production, TCOM 332
  Through this course, students will learn the fundamentals of electronic field

Intermediate Video Production, TCOM 334
   Single camera technique taught to find, produce, direct, write, and edit magazine
   style/documentary short stories. Interviewing techniques are stressed. Advanced
   pre-production, production, and post-production processes will be covered. All
   students will be required to write and produce their own stories along with create
   their own portfolio website with resume and demo reel.

DVD Design, TCOM 350
  TCOM 350 covers the design and development of DVDs. This course considers the
  engineering and technical apparatus of DVD architecture as well as the aesthetic
  components of good design. While DVD development is the central focus of the
  course, TCOM 350 also expands your skill sets regarding post-production, graphic
  design, and web development.

Independent Studies, TCOM 390

    Various Independent Studies with many talented students. Have included: iPhone
    Game Development, Multi-Media DJ Concert, Website Creation, Feature Film Script
    Writing, Webisode Writing, Webisode Production, Short Film Production, Video
    Blogs, and Documentaries.

Producing and Directing the Narrative Film, TCOM 435
   Cinema Entertainment Immersion (CEI) is a collaborative, immersive venture
   involving TCOM 333 “Audio 2”, ENG 410 “Advanced Scriptwriting”, and THEAT
   336 “Acting for the Camera.” Develops essential skills for working on a film set for:
   Director, Producer, Director of Photography, Assistant Director, Sound, Actor, and
   Writer. Students learn an advanced comprehension of these positions and how they
   work together on a set to create a professional project. All projects will be shot on
   HD 1920x1080 and mixed in 5.1 surround sound.

High Definition Summer Movie Immersion, TCOM 480
  High definition feature film immersion. Approximately 180 students annually work
  on the project. Pre-production is in the Spring semester, production is in the Summer
  and post-production is in Fall quarter. The film is student-lead with student writers,
  director, producers, and actors.

Your Downtown Muncie, TCOM 497
  TCOM 497 is a unique opportunity to immerse students in a professional capacity to
  plan, design, and develop short profiles for downtown Muncie Businesses. The Your
  Downtown Muncie project is grant funded by the Provost Initiative Grant’ seeking to
  establish a strong connection between BSU students and Muncie’s downtown
  business establishments. In a working partnership with Muncie’s Downtown
  Development and Indiana Films – students design, plan, and produce business
  profile videos for a portal website. The primary objective of this project is to immerse
  students in the development of emerging media communication.
