									                          FAQs Regarding the Master of Science Degree in
                                  Speech Language Pathology


When is the deadline for the application?
March 1, 2012--this is a firm deadline. If you do not have all of your information Office of Graduate
Admissions and Records you will not be considered for the graduate program.
If my application is received, when will I know whether I've been accepted into your Master's
Degree program?
Letters will be mailed out on or around April 15, 2012. You will know at that time whether you were
accepted or you were placed on the waiting list.
What happens if I'm placed on the waiting list? Does this mean that I am not accepted?
Once the first round of letters is sent and those candidates have an opportunity to respond, if there
are seats left in the cohort, we move down the list of possible candidates until our cohort is filled.
How many students are accepted to the graduate program in SLP?
Typically we accept 22 background students (CSD major) and three non-background students for our
graduate cohort.
What is a non-background graduate student?
A non-background student is one who received an undergraduate degree in a field of study other than
Communication Science and Disorders. The non-background students will complete one year of
undergraduate study in the CSD department as a graduate student and then will begin his/her
traditional graduate work the second year. For more information please refer to our policy on the

What do I need to do to apply?
Go to the Office of Graduate Admissions and Records for more information. You will need to send an
official copy of all of your college transcripts and your test scores.
Do you need letters of Recommendation or a letter of intent?
We do not accept recommendation letters nor letters of intent. The CSD department only admits
according to GPA and test scores.

What are the requirements for admission into Graduate School?
Please check with the Office of Graduate Admissions and Records for more information. The
minimum scores for application to the CSD Speech-Language Pathology graduate program is:
Minimum overall GPA of 2.5
GRE 20th percentile on the Quantitative portion of the GRE
     35th percentile on the Verbal portion of the GRE
We no longer accept the Miller Analogies Test.

Is the graduate program in SLP full time or can I go part time?
The graduate course of study in SLP is full-time. We offer classes and clinical training during the
day. We do not offer a part time program. For more information please refer to:

***Although the Office of Graduate Admissions and Records is now sending out emails
regarding your application, it is still recommended that you check on the status of your
application process. Please do not wait until the last minute to make sure the graduate office
has received your completed application. We do not receive any information on applicants
who have not completed the application process after March 1, 2012.
