7. GOING OUT: Bath & Bradford on Avon
For a small city, Bath boasts a wide range of bars, pubs and clubs. At weekends it can get
very busy but full of atmosphere. The clubs are virtually all underground given most of the
buildings are listed but often open until 2 or 3am.
For the more mainstream bar scene, visit George Street at the top of the popular shopping
district of Milsom Street. Here you will find a Vodka Revolution and a Slug & Lettuce along
with some smaller, funky little bars such as Adventure Café and a classy but cosy
underground cocktail bar called Sub 13 with a great little beer garden. For more relaxed and
fun pub, visit the Pig & Fiddle on Saracen Street with its large beer garden.
As for the nightclubs, you are most likely to want to head down towards Bath Abbey. In this
district you should find OPA on North Parade, which is a Greek restaurant by day and opens
up as a popular club. Free entry, atmospheric and good fun. Second Bridge opposite the
Police Station is more expensive but a bigger and busier night. Entry £7, larger cavernous
format with a younger energetic crowd. Finally, the Blue Rooms may also fit the bill with two
levels and a cool crowd, conveniently located on George Street.
Taxi ranks: beside Bath Abbey and near the Police station
LOCAL PUBS & BARS
For a quieter night, we recommend visiting Bradford on Avon’s fine selection of pubs and
bars. Popular venues include The Castle at the top of the main hill, The Bunch of Grapes on
Silver Street and the The Dandy Lion and The Swan in the middle of the town. Taxis to and
from should not cost more than £7 each way. You could also jump on a train from here to a
more vibrant night out in Bath.

ARCHERY AT WINSLEY
We have teamed up with a fellow villager to provide a safe and enjoyable introduction to
the medieval sport of archery for our guests. Sam Foster and his son Andrew are both
suitably qualified* and enjoy guiding groups through the basics of archery.
They will show you the necessary techniques and help you develop as an archer, firing
arrows at their targets in a purpose‐built range in either Church Farm land or a nearby sports
field. Their sessions last around an hour and a half and are extremely good value.
Groups Sessions: 1hr 30min sessions (ages 6+)
Minumum group of 4 people: £10 per person, maximum group of 24 people: £10 per person
(*Grand National Archery Society Leaders, CRB‐checked)
