  La Belle Nature Park (http://labellenaturepark.net/)
Security; The sign specifying opening at ‘sunup’ and closing at ‘sundown’ is in the process of being printed by Lyons
Printing. Mel will have Phil Pellitier check the sign to see that it will comply with Parks and Recreation. John
voiced ideas of an electronic security system. Sheriff Ronnie Lee needs to have a neighborhood watch meeting in
order to formally start a neighborhood watch.
Improvements; Mary Ruth Prouty (health department) has $7,500 that could provide a Kiosk showing the trails with
distances between landmarks. John will check into costs. The money from Ruth is a health grant that must be
      spent by June.
Publicity; Park brochures placed at the Chamber of Commerce and City Hall have been depleted. A new supply is
needed. John will be providing a brochure with plant identification photos. The DVD of the oxbow restoration
project is out and being viewed by groups. The Park now has Geo-Trekker status. Margaret found a Geo-Cache in
      the Park (http://www.geocaching.com/).

Hendry County Economic Development Council (http://www.hendrycountyedc.com/)
Focus Meetings; Another round of meetings took place to address a wide variety of issues facing Hendry and Glades
Counties. Water quality and the environment still remain important subjects. These meeting are met to build a
consensus among residence in order to form sensible growth planning. Recent events in the area have highlighted
bird watching or ‘Birding’ as an important tourist attraction. The Coalition encourages motels, shops, and
restaurants to accommodate the bird watcher or ‘Birder’ so that repeat visits will be likely. The next La Belle
meeting is April 13 at 6 p.m. in the La Belle Civic Center.

Bob Mason Park (Labelle Lion's Club Park, SR 78 & SR 29, Caloosahatchee River, La Belle)
