PLATE PAYOFF
$717,000 thus far
for Mass Hockey

Sports Action Photography
In December of 1999, Stephen F. Lynch (then a state senator) and
Boston Bruins President Harry Sinden joined Mass Hockey President
Dan Esdale at South Boston’s Murphy Rink to announce the filing of a
bill in the Massachusetts legislature to create a new license plate to
benefit Mass Youth Hockey. Following his election to the United States
Congress, Steve Lynch continued to push for the bill’s passage.
Finally in 2002, Congressman Lynch, Harry Sinden, along with Senator
Guy Glodis, Senator Jack Hart, and Rep. Marty Walsh prevailed and the
Boston Bruins/Invest in Youth Hockey license plate was on the road.
In the past seasons the money received from the plate sales have been
spent on Mass hockey’s Grassroots programs. The funds were distrib-
uted to the Mike Cheever Grow the Game, the Border Patrol program
for our youngest players, the parental and spectator conduct code and
the youth amputee program.
Remember that these plates are for Mass Hockey. The benefits are for
our programs and our children. If you and your friends and family don’t
have the plates: please get them. if you already have them, please
renew and you will ensure continuing revenue for decades to come.
Just bring your old plates with your checkbook or credit card to any
Mass Registry of Motor Vehicles office and leave with your new Bruins
plate and the knowledge that you have helped good people do good
things.
You can also order the license plate online at www.bostonbruins.com

Dear Massachusetts Hockey Members & Friends,
As the new president of Massachusetts Hockey, I would like to share some of
my experiences with you. I have been on the board of Mass. Hockey for 10
years now. I started as a Girls/Women’s Director and then the 3rd Vice
President for the past 5 years. I have chaired the Long Range Planning
Committee, American Development Model Committee and most recently the
Player Development Committee. Besides my experience with Mass. Hockey, I
have been playing hockey since I was 5 years old. I played for Assabet Valley
Girls Hockey, Lawrence Academy, Northeastern University and still play on an
adult women’s team. As well as playing, I have been coaching for 12 years at all
young levels, including 9 years at the prep school level. My full-time job is being
a middle school computer technology teacher in Woburn, MA. I spend much of
my life dealing with and developing the children of Massachusetts.
Secondly, I would like to recognize Steve Palmacci, the now past presi-
dent. Steve has begun instrumental changes in Mass. Hockey that should not
go un-noticed. To mention a few, Steve began the Mike Cheever Grow Hockey
Grant, the American Development Model, as well as many internal changes.
The growth of hockey in Mass. continues to increase due to Steve’s initiatives.
Steve, we thank you for all your hard work over the past four years.
Lastly, my goals are to continue the initiatives that have been started
and to take them to the next level. Not only do we need to continue to grow
hockey in Mass. but we need to retain the players we already have. I truly
believe the American Development Model will help with retention. I also urge
programs to take advantage of the Mike Cheever’s Grow Hockey Grant and the
One Goal program. The 2 and 2 Challenge is important for all programs to try
and achieve. This means you gain 2 new players but retain 2 other players. It is
definitely an attainable goal all programs should be striving for.
As President of Massachusetts Hockey, I promise to work hard
throughout my term with the best interest of all players in our membership. I
also will work diligently at opening the communication and connections with our
membership, therefore please feel free to reach out.
I look forward to a wonderful year!
Sincerely,
Keri-Anne Allan
