					Vitamin B2 Riboflavin is a necessary vitamin in maintaining your overall
health, vitality and wellbeing. Riboflavin is commonly found in many
foods and may also be found in supplement form with many other vitamin B
complex products and B vitamins including folic acid (vitamin B9),
vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B3
(niacin/niacinamide), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin B6
(pyridoxine) and vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin). Riboflavin is used to
treat a number of conditions.      Vitamin B2 is found naturally in foods
such as eggs, enriched flour, green vegetables, meat, milk and nuts.
When you do not get enough riboflavin from foods, you can also try
supplements. Getting enough riboflavin each day helps you prevent many
conditions including deficiency, cervical cancer and migraines. It is
also used to treat conditions such as acne, blood disorders like
congenital methemoglobinemia and red blood cell aplasia, burning feet
syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome and muscle cramps.


  Although there is not much supporting evidence that it is truly
effective, riboflavin is also used to treat a number of other conditions
such as alcoholism, burns, canker sores, lactic acidosis from NRTI drugs
used in AIDS medications, liver disease, memory loss such as Alzheimer's
disease, sickle cell anemia and ulcers. It is also used to boost
athletic performance and the immune system function.      Riboflavin also
has a function in keeping the hair, nails, mucous membranes and skin
healthy while slowing down aging and promoting healthy reproductive
function. Some people even use it to help with certain eye conditions
including cataracts, eye fatigue and glaucoma. However, it is important
that it is not taken in high doses as it can cause diarrhea, increased
urination and other side effects.      Riboflavin can be taken in varying
doses, but it does have recommended daily allowances. Infants need to
have between 30 to 40 micrograms each day while children up to 13 need
between 50 to 90 mcg per day. Males 14 and over need about 130 mcg per
day, but dosages for women differ. Teens need 100 mcg while those 18 and
over need 110 mcg. Pregnant and breastfeeding women need 140 mcg and 160
