GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. PURPOSE OF THIS MSG IS TO ENSURE ALL PERSONNEL
ABOARD MCB CAMP LEJEUNE WHO ARE ASSIGNED AS EXPLOSIVES HANDLERS AND
EXPLOSIVES MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATORS HAVE A CURRENT PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
PER THE REFERENCES. DURING THE RECENT MCB EXPLOSIVE SAFETY INSPECTION
BY NAVAL ORDNANCE SAFETY AND SECURITY ACTIVITY IT WAS FOUND THAT SOME
PERSONNEL WERE MISSING MEDICAL CERTIFICATIONS OR THAT CERTIFICATIONS
WERE NOT SIGNED BY THE EXAMINING PHYSICIAN.

2. PER REF A ALL PERSONNEL WHOSE PRIMARY DUTIES REQUIRE THE HANDLING
OF A&E (TO INCLUDE DRIVERS/OPERATORS OF GOVERNMENT OWNED MOTOR VEHICLES
AND MATERIAL HANDLING EQUIPMENT HANDLING A&E) MUST PASS A PERIODIC
MEDICAL EXAM. REF B REQUIRES THAT THIS EXAM BE PERFORMED BY A LICENSED
INDEPENDENT PRACTITIONER OR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT. A GENERAL MEDICAL
OFFICER MAY PERFORM EXAMS IF HE/SHE HAS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AN
ACCREDITED INTERNSHIP.

3. THIS EXAMINATION IS REQUIRED EVERY FIVE YEARS FOR ACTIVE DUTY
PERSONNEL UP TO AGE 50, AND ANNUALLY THEREAFTER.

4. DRIVERS/OPERATORS MUST PASS A THOROUGH MEDICAL EXAM AS OUTLINED IN
REF A AND C. A VALID MEDICAL EXAMINER'S CERTIFICATE MUST BE PRESENTED
TO THE LICENSING OFFICIAL PRIOR TO RECEIVING AN EXPLOSIVES ENDORSEMENT.
ALL MEDICAL CERTIFICATES MUST BE SIGNED BY THE EXAMINING PHYSICIAN.
THE MEDICAL CERTIFICATE SHALL NOT BE SIGNED BY AN INDEPENDENT DUTY
CORPSMAN.

5. THE REQUIREMENTS CITED HEREIN WILL BE INCLUDED IN MCB EXPLOSIVE
SAFETY INSPECTIONS AND WILL BE REVIEWED AT LEAST ANNUALLY BY THE
INSTALLATIONS EXPLOSIVE SAFETY OFFICER. QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS SHOULD
BE DIRECTED TO THE POC INDICATED ABOVE.
