Riesling is an aromatic grape variety displaying a powerful & distinctive flowery aroma. It is almost perfumed with apple, pear and stone fruit that frequently mix in mineral elements. Its high natural level of tartaric acid enables it to balance even high levels of residual sugar as well as high acidity. It is used to make dry, semi-sweet, sweet and sparkling wines. 10 Jim Barry The Lodge Hill Clare Valley 51 08 Ribeauville Alsace, France 57 09 Neudorf Brightwater Nelson, N.Z 63 10 Mesh Eden Valley S.A 68 08 Hugel Alsace, France 84 Sauvignon Blanc Sauvignon Blanc grape gets its name from the French word Sauvage (‘wild”) and Blanc (‘white”). Sauvignon Blanc grapes produce a crisp, dry and refreshing style. Depending on the climate, the flavours range from aggressive to sweetly tropical. The flavours range from sour green fruits of apples, pears and gooseberries through to exotic tropical fruits of melon, passionfruit and pineapple. 10 Yealands Estate Baby Doll Marlborough 42 10 Pizzini King Valley 47 10 Wither Hills Marlborough 58 09 Port Phillip Estate Mornington, Victoria 61 09 Staete Landt Marlborough 62 Semillon Semillon is a grape mostly blended with Sauvignon Blanc. It is also used to make sweet white wines. Picked early for low potential alcohol and un-oaked style, it produces a complex, minerally, lemon blossom flavour with notes of grapefruit & beeswax. With several years in the bottle, Semillon undergoes a metamorphosis, putting on weight and exhibiting a buttercup-yellow colour. On the nose it presents burnt toast & honey characteristics, with excellent complex flavours on the palate with a long finish of soft acid. 07 Kingsleys Classic Dry White . The grape has a brownish pink to black and sometimes white appearance. Classic Pinot Gris characters include honey & fresh butter balanced by a touch of tinned pears, dried apples and hay with a slightly sweet finish. Pinot Grigio is often described as having smoky & salty mineral notes. It is often followed by pink grapefruit, melon & lemon& balanced by great acidy. 10 Corte Giara Pinot Grigio IGT Veneto, Italy 49 10 Grant Burge The Vigneron Adelaide Hills 57 Verdelho Verdelho is mainly used to produce medium-sweet white wines. With modern winemaking techniques such as controlled pellicular macerations (or batonnage where the skins bubble together for 24 hours before pressing) have unlocked some surprising characters from this grape. The resulting wines are aromatic & herbaceous revealing laurel leaf, fresh hay & citrus. They have a full middle palate and with good oak treatment, develop nutty characteristics normally only found in rich Chardonnays. 09 Krinklewood Biodynamic Vineyard Hunter Valley 50 Chardonnay Chardonnay is believed to have originated in Burgundy region of eastern France but is now grown in many other parts of the World. The Chardonnay grape itself is very neutral, with many of the flavours commonly associated with the grape being Derived from such influences as terroir and oak. It is vinified in many different styles, from the elegant & flinty, to rich, Buttery & tropical fruit flavours. 10 Peppertree Unwooded Wrattonbully S.A 55 09 Stonier Mornington 68 09 William Fevre Petit Chablis Chablis, France 73 10 Scarbourough Yellow Label Hunter Valley N.S.W 75 08 Yalumba FDW 7c Adelaide Hills 79 09 Tyrrells Vat 47 Chardonnay Hunter Valley ? 07 Howard Park Margaret River 105 9 Vintages are subject to change without notice Rosé Rosé is a wine that goes through the red winemaking process, but is stopped before extracting too many of the red Wine characteristics. Made from the red varietals, the grapes are pressed and the juice sits with the skins for fermentation – but just for a little while – enough time to obtain a bit of colour and a bit of the skin characteristics. The fermentation continues as a white wine, most often in stainless steel. Rosé styles range from sweet or dry, dark or light in colour; aromas include violets, dried roses, wild flowers, strawberries, cherries, raspberries, apple, and lychee& pineapple. 09 Krinklewood Biodynamic Vineyard Francesca Mouvedre Hunter Valley 56 Pinot Noir Pinot Noir is the name derived from the French words for “pine” and “black”. This alludes to the varietals’ clustered dark purple pine cone shaped bunches of fruit. A great Pinot Noir creates a lasting impression on the palate and in the memory. Its aroma is often one of the complex of all varietals and can be intense. With ripe grape or black cherry aromas, frequently accented by pronounced spiciness that suggests cinnamon, sassafras or mint. Ripe tomato, mushroom, and barnyard smells are common descriptors for identifying Pinot Noir. It is full bodied and rich but not heavy with substantial flavour despite its delicacy. The most appealing quality of Pinot Noir may be its soft, velvety texture. When right, it is like liquid silk, gently caressing the palate. In cool regions, the wine is herbaceous and show flavours of green peppers. In regions where the grape is exposed to excess warmth and over-ripening, there is a propensity for the wine to develop flavours of mint, eucalyptus and cooked or stewed blackcurrants. Cabernet Sauvignon with pronounced green pepper flavours earned the nickname of “Monterey Veggies”. In parts of Australia, the grape develops more mineral flavours. Resinous Eucalyptus flavours tend to appear in regions that are habitats for the eucalyptus tree. 09 Rymill The Yearling Coonawarra S.A 55 08 Zema Estate Coonawarra S.A 69 09 Yalumba Cigar Coonawarra S.A 70 05 Peel Estate Baldivis W.A 71 09 Rusden Ripper Creek (Cabernet/Shiraz) Barossa 71 07 Kilikanoon Blocks Road Clare Valley 74 08 Maxwell Lime Cave McLaren Vale 75 09 Howard Park Leston Margaret River W.A 84 08 Grant Burge Corryton Park Barossa S.A 92 04 Geoff Merrill Reserve Coonawarra/ McLaren Vale 94 06 Yalumba The Signature (Cabernet/Shiraz) Barossa Valley 112 04 Yalumba The Menzies Coonawarra 115 08 Rockford Rifle Range Barossa 115 08 Juniper Estate Cowaramup W.A 115 04 Tyrrell’s Vat 8 (Shiraz/Cabernet) Hunter Valley 119 05 Peter Lehmann Mentor Barossa Valley 125 99 Yalumba FDR 1A (Cabernet/Shiraz) Eden Valley 130 08 Rusden Boundaries Barossa 146 02 Jim Barry The Benbournie Clare Valley 241 08 Katnook Odyssey Coonawarra 259 Cabernet Merlot & Blends 07 Kingsleys Prime Red (Cabernet/Merlot) South Eastern Australia 36 06 Clairault (Cabernet/Merlot) Margaret River, W.A 56 09 Maxwell Little Demon (Cabernet/Merlot) McLaren Vale 45 04 Voyager Estate (Cabernet/ Merlot) Margaret River 125 06 Devil’s Lair (Cabernet/Merlot) Margaret River 140 98 Petaluma Coonawarra (Cabernet/Merlot) Coonawarra 215 03 Mount Mary Vineyard Quintet (Cabernet Franc/Malbec /Petit Verdot) Yarra Valley 295 05 Mount Mary Vineyard Quintet ( Cabernet Franc/Malbec/Petit Verdot) Yarra Valley 295 12 Vintages are subject to change without notice Shiraz Shiraz is the fifth most populated city in Iran and the capital of Fars Province.
