									                                   family favorites
These are the wines on the list that are near and dear to the family,
where each quarter we choose a selection from a different personal stash.
This quarter we’ve plundered the cellar of Executive Chef Brad Farmerie

2009 Riesling Hermann J. Weimer (Fingerlakes, NY) 42
This lemon-lime treat from the quirky Fingerlakes wine region here
in New York State has been deemed by many publications as
“Finest American Riesling”. I keep this elixir of life in my house at
all times- priced for every day drinking but tasting like a special occasion.

2004 Riesling Trimbach Cuvee Frederick Emile (Alsace, France) 95
I first tasted this wine in the caves below the Trimbach estate in
Ribeauvillé in the late 90’s, and it quickly secured a position
on my “last supper” list. A few too many bottles also secured
a position in my luggage, meaning that my clothes stayed in France
while the wine came home with me. You can always buy more clothes,
but a wine like this...maybe not.
2008 Pinot Noir Failla Occidental Ridge (Sonoma Coast, CA) 140
The Failla’s are childhood friends of mine, but that is not the reason
this bottle is on this page-it is the Burgundian style bramble and
nuanced funk that keep me coming back again and again to this
          rock star red.
    2009 Grenache/Shiraz/Mataro Torbreck Juveniles (Barossa, Australia) 55
Refuge from the rainy Parisian winter of 2000 drove me into the cult
wine bar Juveniles, just a stone’s throw from the Louvre. It was here
that I was introduced to a most unlikely yet delicious wine - an Aussie
blend of Rhone grapes made specifically for a wine bar in Paris run
by an enigmatic Englishman. Confused? don’t be- just enjoy!
2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Pursued by Bear (Columbia Valley, WA) 120
David Lynch disciple Kyle Maclachlan (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) mixes
Shakespeare references and grapes from the area around his boyhood
home near Yakima to build a blockbuster Cabernet Sauvignon in miniscule
amounts. Hard to find but easy to love once you get it in your glass.
