Braddock’s Anthony Vellucci Named to Park Board
Anthony Vellucci, a longtime resident of the King’s Park West neighborhood, will be joining the
Fairfax County Park Authority Board as the Braddock District Representative. Vellucci was
recently named to the post by Braddock District Supervisor John Cook. This is a four-year
appointment and fills the position previously held by Winnie Shapiro.

Supervisor Cook said of the new appointee, “Tony has led the Kings Park West Civic
Association, the second largest association in Braddock District, with distinction. He knows how
to bring people together to get things done. Tony has a strong, personal commitment to our
parks, and when combined with his community leadership record, makes him an ideal addition to
the Park Authority. I look forward to working with him in this new capacity."

There is little doubt that Vellucci is a can-do type of person when it comes to community service.
He recently served as president of the Kings Park West Civic Association. During his tenure he
effected revisions of the community’s bylaws and rules of incorporation; established
Neighborhood Assist which helps those in need; established a meet and great Tables of Eight
program and supported both the Katie Thelin playground initiative and the establishment of the
John P. McAnaw Recreation Area, to name just a few.

Vellucci is a senior manager with more than 25 years of experience in both program
management and business development/sales for defense and homeland security contractors.

He is also a veteran with more than 28 years of active duty and reserve service in the United
States Navy. He retired as a Captain in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Highlights of his naval career
include responsibility for the planning and operations of strategic sealift assets in the
European/Mediterranean theatre in the mid-1980s, service as Commanding Officer Naval
Reserve Beach Group TWO responsible for training 1700 reservists involved in amphibious
operations, as well as spearheading major revisions to the Navy Capabilities and Mobilization
Plan while on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO)..

His educational accomplishments include a Masters of Business Administration from George
Mason University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Villanova
University and graduation from the Navy War College National Security and Decision Making
Seminar Program in Washington D.C.
