              The Minutes of the meeting held on Wednesday the 13th April, 2011.

                At Galston Community Centre, 37 Arcadia Rd, Galston.
The meeting commenced at 8.00pm with our President - Bill Fleming welcoming new members Lei Farrar,
Pat McKinnon, visitors, members and our guest speaker Judy Horton.
As the position of minute secretary is still vacant, the secretary asked Jill Martin to take minutes.
Many thanks Jill. Someone else will be chosen next meeting.
The apology and attendance book is circulating.
It was moved by Barbie Barrett and seconded by Don Ross that the minutes of the previous meeting on the
9th March, 2011 be accepted.

 Bunnings, Warehouse Dural – Mothers Day Family Fun Night and Cancer Council Fundraising Event.
   Thursday 5th May, 2011. Showcase and Demonstrate your latest products and services. Require -
   Community group name, product and services you will be promoting, reps attending, type of display you
   will be providing. Arrive at 5pm for 6pm start.

   30th June New melanoma drug treatment, 7th Sept Alzheimer disease and living with dementia, 20th Oct

The main item of expenditure was the final donation of $2,000 from last years Open Gardens weekend to the
Cancer Council.
Anyone who hasn’t renewed their membership please do so ASAP.

   Good publicity in local papers
   Welcomed new members and expressed a wish to talk to them personally to discover how they found out
    about our organization.

Open Gardens :- John Graham
   John was unable to attend and sent his apologies.
   More gardens are needed.

   Verity was unable to attend and sent her apologies.

Social Committee: - Liz Muller, Trish & Graham Piper, Jill Martin,
   Liz thanked Jan and Mark Sutherland – Harris for the delightful tour around their garden
   Liz also expressed disappointment at the lateness of lunch after our garden crawl.
   For the 4th of May outing, Liz and Trish sussed out Wendy Whiteley’s garden and found a few other
    interesting homes in the immediate area.
   Morning tea will be in the park opposite the club. Please bring your own drink.
   Lunch will be in the Sunset Café of the Kiirribilli Club as this can be booked.
   It was decided to meet at Bunnings in New Line Rd at 9.30am to car pool. The cost of parking at the club
    is $12.
   Graham covered the arrangements for the Newcastle weekend on 14th and 15th May. See April social
    news for the itinery.
   It is requested that everyone attending pay a deposit of $100 tonight. Full payment at the May meeting.
   We need 40 people attend to break even, otherwise a supplementary amount of approximately $20 may
    be needed to cover costs.

   The trading table is well stocked. Please avail yourself of all the bargains.
   Copies of “Our Gardens” magazine still available. $12
   Reminder about the 7th Collectors Rare Plant Fair on the 16th and 17th April at 25 Powells Rd, Bilpin.
   Poor response to the Aust Open Gardens Scheme – advertising not heard on the radio.
   Bill once again provided a large array of cuttings - cane begonias etc for everyone to propagate for
    themselves and the open gardens weekend.
   The next meeting on Wednesday 11th May, 2011 the speaker being David Wilson – Topic “the Bees”.
    The Open Gardens meeting will convene at 7.00pm all are welcome and the General Meeting will
    commence at 8.00pm.
