1. livebox installation

Thank you for purchasing Surf and Talk with livebox. We hope you will be pleased

with your experience and with what you can achieve with this advanced piece of

technology. In order to get the most out of your new service, we recommend that

you spend some time getting familiar with this guide, as it will describe in detail all

the functions of this product. In addition to a troubleshooting section and answering

some frequently asked questions on most of the service features.



a) livebox installation by Orange technical support team

1. The technician installs the livebox modem and makes the required internal wiring.



2. The technician will perform end-to-end tests for:



• wired/wireless internet through PC

• wireless internet through laptop

• Voice over IP (VoIP) calls

• regular calls (fixed line calls)



3. The technician will give you this user guide and a flyer about the services.



4. The technician will explain the functionality of the various modem LEDs and will

give a brief overview of this user guide.



Please don’t sign the acceptance form unless all steps above are complete.

After your livebox is installed, your service will be ready to use.

• You will be connected to the internet the moment you activate your PC‘s

wireless.

• Once you are connected, enjoy your Surf and Talk.

• Remember, you can make your unlimited phone calls (local, national)

through your VoIP, and enjoy discounts on international and mobile calls.

2. General information

a) Service overview

Surf and Talk with livebox provides you the facility to make unlimited local,

national and international discounted calls from your home or office, in addition to

high speed ADSL with wireless internet.



i. Offers



With WiFi livebox you can enjoy:

1. Wired internet (up to three computers) and wireless internet via WiFi technology.

2. Surf and Talk with livebox bundles are available for ADSL at 1M and above.



With VoIP (08777) number you can enjoy:

1. Unlimited local and national calls.

2. Up to 80% discount and per second billing for international calls.

3. 20% discount on calls to mobiles.

4. Free services: call forwarding, voicemail and calling line identification

presentation service (CLIP).





ii. Voice over IP service (VoIP)



1. A dedicated phone set is necessary for use of the VoIP feature.

2. A pre-requisite for using VoIP is to have an Orange fixed line.

3. You need to dial area codes when making calls through VoIP as it is a non-

geographical number. For example: to call Salt dial 0535XXXXX

4. If there is a fault with the VoIP service and it is down, you can make local and

national calls through your fixed line free of charge as a courtesy service.

a) Internet connection



In address bar enter 192.168.1.1

• The livebox screen will appear.

• To change the language (French by default), click on information on the left

side, choose English and press Apply as shown in the figure below:











• Refresh the Internet Explorer page by clicking .

• To setup your internet click on my services welcome services table

If the internet service status "Disabled" please click modify

"jtg/username@orange-net" or “jtg/username@orange-adsl”









b) Wireless configuration

When you click apply you should save the modifications by clicking now then

reboot.

c) Connecting wireless to the internet using laptop



To connect your PC or laptop wireless to the livebox, please follow the instructions:

• Start →control panel →network connection→ wireless connection.

• Right click on wireless network connection.

• Click on view available wireless networks.

• A list of available wireless networks will appear.

d) Connecting to the internet using USB cable or USB

4. Troubleshooting

If you are facing any problems with your livebox we suggest you check this section.

Following the given steps provided should help resolve certain problems.



a) All the LEDs are off

1. Check that the type of power supply available in your premises conforms to the

mains voltage required to power your livebox.



2. Check that the power supply lead is correctly connected at one end to the mains

power network socket as shown in figure a.1

3. Check that the power supply connector is correctly inserted into the corresponding

connector (power) on the livebox as shown in figure a.2

b) LED is on but there is no VoIP or internet

1. Check the IP address setting on your computer (LAN Setting).



i. Windows XP:



Start control panel right click on network connections and choose

Properties









ii. Windows Vista:



Start control panel Network and Sharing Center on the left side

Manage network connections right click on Local Area Connection and

choose Properties

2. If the problem still persists and you can’t enter to the internet check your Proxy

Setting from the on your computer then Tools internet options.









3. If the problem still persists try to reset your livebox by disconnecting the power plug

then reconnect it.

c) LED is constantly blinking (no VoIP nor internet

available)

1. Check that the cable between the livebox and the filter is connected correctly as

shown below:









2. If the problem still persists check your internet access.

• The livebox screen will appear.

• To change the language (French by default), click

on information on the left side, choose English and

press Apply.

• Refresh the Internet Explorer page by clicking .

• Log into the information on left screen and click on

ADSL connection, you will find one of the following:





1. ADSL line status is operational as shown below:









• Click on the My Services tab on the left.

• Choose Welcome.

• Click on Modify for the internet connection and check that your Orange username

and password are entered correctly.

• Retype the username and password (username@orange-net) or

(jtg/username@orange-net) or (jtg/username@orange-adsl) and click

Apply.



If the problem persists call Customer Care 06 460 8888







2. ADSL line status is not synchronized as shown below:









• Remove the filter and connect directly to the wall phone socket.

• If the problem is solved, the filter might be damaged. Please visit the sales center

to purchase a new device.









• If the problem persists, please call 06 460 8888.





d) LED is off



• Check that the cable is connected to the Ethernet through the livebox red port.

• The LAN connection should be enabled or connected.



i. Windows XP:



Start control panel right click on network connections

ii. Windows Vista:



Start control panel Network and Sharing Center on the left side

Manage network connections right click on Local Area Connection .









If the problem persists, check that the Ethernet card is identified, and then follow the

steps below:



i. Windows XP:



1. On your desktop, right click My Computer and select properties.

2. Click on the Hardware tab and select Device Manager.

3. The following screen will appear:









ii. Windows Vista:



Start right click on My Computer on the left side choose Device Manager









You may find one of the following cases in Network adapters:

• If it is marked with an (x) (as shown above), check your modem’s connection to

the computer.

• If there is no yellow (?) or (!) beside the card name, your card is identified and

there are no problems with the Ethernet card. If this is the case, please call 06

460 8888.

• If you do find ‘?’ or ‘!’, you need to contact a computer technician to associate

your card with the computer.

e) LED is off (ADSL is operational but VoIP is not

available)

• The livebox screen will appear.

• To change the language (French by default),

click on information on the left side, choose

English and press Apply.

• Refresh the Internet Explorer page by clicking

.

• In the Save/Erase/Reboot Tab, click Reboot,

confirm and press Now and Save.









• Wait for the message “Your livebox is ready again” to appear.

• Exit from the screen and wait 45 seconds.

• If the problem persists, please call 06 460 8888.

f) LED is off and the wireless connection is unavailable

• The livebox screen will appear.

• To change the language (French by default),

click on information on the left side, choose

English and press Apply.

• Refresh the Internet Explorer page by

clicking .



• Click on the Wireless tab and enable.

g) LED is on but the livebox connection is unavailable



• Start →control panel →network connection→ wireless connection.

• Right click on Wireless Network Connection.

• Click on view available wireless networks.

• A list of available wireless networks will appear.

5. Frequently asked questions

a) How can I check my VoIP service?

When dialing 08777, if it goes directly to voicemail, unplug your adapter for 3-5

minutes then plug it in again and wait for 1 minute for it to start.





b) How do I reboot my livebox?

(admin)



• The livebox screen will appear.

• To change the language (French by default),

click on information on the left side, choose

English and press Apply.

• Refresh the Internet Explorer page by clicking

• Click on Save/Erase/Reboot.









c) How do I differentiate between VoIP tone and fixed

telephone tone?

1. The tone of VoIP is recognizably different to a regular telephone tone.

2. You cannot use VoIP unless the telephone is directly connected to the livebox.

This means that you cannot use the VoIP without connecting the wire directly

between the livebox modem and the telephone set (RJ11).







d) Why does the message “the page cannot be displayed”

appear when I try to access the internet?

1. Check the Ethernet cable connecting the livebox modem to the PC (red

port).

a. Check the (LAN) Local Area Connection status on the PC, it must be

enabled.

2. Limited or no connectivity.

3. Check the username and password. In the My Services Tab Internet

Access.
