FLOAT INTO LUXURY ON A DUBAI CRUISE

Costa Cruises is one of several cruise lines visiting Dubai - a typical cruise around the UAE

might involve stops at Muscat, Fujairah, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, as well as Dubai.

Dubai has a solid reputation as a luxury holiday destination and this is perhaps most apparent on

a cruise to Dubai.

The city-state in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) boasts gorgeous beaches, sunshine and a plethora

of shops, as well as some of the most stunning hotels in the world.

Those going on a Dubai cruise can opt to soak up the aforementioned sunshine on the deck of

their cruise liner or hop onshore for an unforgettable excursion - Dubai offers an intriguing mix

of traditional Arab-Islamic culture and ultra-modern attractions that are sure to enthral cruise

goers.

Holidaymakers looking for a taste of the 'old' Dubai could take a

trip to one of its bustling souks -traditional markets - and haggle

with stallholders for a bargain or two, or perhaps visit the Dubai

Museum, which is housed in the impressive-looking Al Fahdi Fort -

a structure built in the late 18th century.

Middle East cruise goers with a bent for the modern might prefer to forgo Dubai's mysterious

souks for the bright lights of its many gleaming shopping malls and centres, each packed with

boutiques, big-brand outlets and a variety of restaurants and cafes.

Dubai's historical attractions include the residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, who ruled Dubai

in the first half of the 20th century, and the Bastakiya district, which is packed with traditional

courtyard houses that are navigated via narrow winding lanes and could be perfect for those wanting

to immerse themselves in Dubai's rich heritage.

Another glimpse into Dubai's past is provided by the Bur Dubai

creekside promenade, which used to be the face of Dubai in

previous panoramic shots of the city-state and harbours a number of

fascinating old buildings restored to their original look and feel.

Looking at more recent landmarks, visitors to Dubai could also check out impressive sights such as

the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab hotel and the Grand Mosque, which was built in the 1990s but looks as

if it was constructed much earlier, as well as leisure facilities like the 18-hectare WonderLand theme

park and the area's various public parks and gardens.

Costa Cruises is Italy and Europe’s number one cruise line. For the past 60 years its ships have

sailed the world, offering the best in Italian style, hospitality and cuisine and providing dream

vacations with the best in fun and relaxation. In 2007 over 1.1 million guests chose to cruise with

Costa, a record for the European cruise industry. The company’s 12 fleet members, each with her

own distinctive characteristics and unique style, all fly the Italian flag and sail each year to 250

destinations in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Baltic Sea, the Caribbean, South America,

the United Arab Emirates, the Far East and the Indian Ocean. Two more new ships – the Costa

Luminosa and Costa Pacifica – are due for delivery at the end of April and the end of May 2009,

and will be christened together in Genoa, Italy on June 5 this year. Three additional ships are on

order. Costa Cruises has been certified by RINA (Italian Shipping Register) with the BEST4, an

with the highest environmental protection standards. Costa Cruises is an official partner of the WWF

Mediobanca’s 2008 survey of over 3,700 Italian enterprises that recorded revenue of at least 50

million euros the previous fiscal year, Costa Crociere S.p.A. ranks 72nd in terms of sales and in 12th
