									Summer FCTL Workshop
Title: Enhancing Online Courses
with Adobe Connect
Project Description

This proposal implements and seeks to measure
the impact of the use of Adobe Connect as a
venue for instruction and virtual office hours.
During the Summer 2008 workshop I will (with
the assistance of FCTL staff) produce a survey
for students who implement virtual office hours
to understand why they seek this kind of
interaction, how they perceive this kind of
interaction and if the interaction did or did not
help them to be successful students in the class.
I will also make use of the FCTL staff in
assisting me with developing the use of Adobe
Connect and exploring the full capabilities of the
software.
Adobe connect is a program that
was recently acquired by UCF’s
Branch Campuses for use with
web based instruction as a means
to enhance instructor and student
interaction.

Adobe Connect is a very powerful
program that enables an instructor
to:

* Interact with students using real
time audio and video

* Share and discuss web sites and
web pages (such as those within a
web course)

* Share and discuss documents
and presentations
* Collaborate on the production of
documents and presentations

* Record all meeting interactions
in easily accessible Flash video
Some of the ways Adobe can be
used to enhance your web course:

* Hold “virtual office” hours from
any location where you can
interact in real time with students
and resolve technical and content
issues that students have with
your web course

* Record face-to-face class
meetings in easily accessible flash
video for students to view
asynchronously

* Hold “virtual class meetings” with
multiple students that utilize audio,
video, chat and the presentations
of documents, power points and
other material
* Enable students to create and
record class presentations no
matter where they are for
asynchronous viewing
What Online Instructors Want

A way to hold “virtual office hours”
with online students regardless of
the student’s location

A way to interact with multiple
students at one time via video and
audio while sharing a class
website to explain website
navigation and discuss class
content

A way for online students to create
and save presentations for
asynchronous viewing
