CLAYMATION ITENERARY
9:00 – 9:10 Hook Up Cameras to computers, place memory inside camera, and place
contents of camera box into carrying case.
9:10 – 10:00 Practice taking pictures with the camera and exporting the pictures to the
computer.
Participants will take pictures of the clay bar, slowly moving the clay with
each picture.
They will then export the pictures into a file on their computer, import the
pictures from the file into Movie Maker, change the Movie Maker pictures
settings, and add the pictures to the timeline.
10:00 – Visit http://education.wichita.edu/claymation/videos7.html and read about
10:15 how 4th and 5th grade students used stop frame animation to retell the
story, “Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry”.
Make sure to watch the various examples of student work.

10:30 – Visit WWI resource site:

and read about the events that lead up to the outbreak of WWI. Pay
specific attention to the assassination of the Heir to the Austrian Throne
Archduke Franz Ferdinand (assassinated by Serbian nationalist Gavrilo
Princip ) .

11:00 – Partner with someone near you and fill out the Event Research Sheet. The
11:30 historic event that you will be documenting will be the assassination of
Franz Ferdinand.

1:00 – 1:45 Create a storyboard for your clay animation project. The storyboard tool
that you will be using can be found at http://kidsvid.hprtec.org/ . You
must create a user account before you can get started. This service is
FREE.
1:45 – 4:00 Use the provided materials to create your sets and characters. Write down
any necessary narration. Shoot your movie, import the stills into Movie
Maker and edit. Export the movie for web delivery.
