Lesley Laing was the foundation Director of the Australian Domestic and Family Violence Clearinghouse from 2000 to 2003. The Clearinghouse provides a central point for the collection and dissemination of Australian domestic and family violence practice, research and policy information. Prior to this, Lesley was Director NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence where she established statewide training programs on violence against women and children. Lesley has worked in direct service delivery, policy, training and research, primarily in the area of violence against women and children. Her research interest lies in exploring the links between efforts to hold men accountable for their violence, and outcomes that enhance the safety and recovery of women and children. She is co-editor, with Jan Breckenridge, of the book ‘Challenging Silence: Innovative Responses to Sexual and Domestic Violence’. In July 2003 she takes up a position as Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Work and Social Policy at the University of Sydney.
