1. INTRODUCTION & SCOPE :





1.0 This method statement specify the detailed requirements and procedures for

installation of Chilled Water Risers from the main entrance piping , and

basement up to roof.

1.1 Applicable Project Specification :





1.1.0 Section 220510 Basic Mechanical Materials and methods

1.1.1 Section 220510 Hydronic Piping





1.2 Quality Control, Inspection and Testing are covered under Quality

Control procedure No. T1193 – Tol – PQP Inspection & Testing plan.

1.3 HSE and General Safety Rules are cover under Project Safety Plan and

Main Contractor Safety Rules and Regulation.





2. RESPOSIBILITIES :





2.0 The Construction Manager will ensure all preparations & installation works

are carried out according to Project Specification , the progress is carried

out according to the planned program, as per approved method statements

to cooperate with the main Contractor regarding the implementation of any

comments raise by the company & to ensure all safety & quality control

are implemented.

2.1 The Site Engineer will ensure that the installation works are carried out

according to: Project Specification ,Manufacturer data sheet , Approved

Method Statement , Safety Regulations & to distribute responsibilities

to his construction team & provide them with information for the installation

works.

2.2 To ensure the compliance of works with the related approved quality

control procedure & Company requirements & to coordinate with the Q.C.

Engineer to advise for the area raise for inspection.









2.3 The QC Engineer will ensure the executed work are carried out in

accordance with Contract Specification , Manufacturer Instruction,

Approved Method Statement & the compliance of these works to quality

procedures.

2.4 To inspect & satisfy him self of the soundness of the completed works

before requesting the Main Contractor to seek Company approval or

inspection.

2.5 To initiate inspection & test request for the Company approval through the

Main Contractor.

2.6 To advise the construction team of the specific requirements related to

work quality.

2.7 To maintain comprehensive inspection & test record any further reference

& documentation.

5. MATERIALS HANDLING & STORAGE AT SITE :





5.0 All Pipes & Fittings shall be off-loaded carefully at site ,stored in a

clean dry place, adequate cover shall be provided.









5.1 MS Pipes should be stacked on a flat surface free from sharp

projection, stones or other protuberance likely to cause point loading

or pipe deformation. It may be necessary to level the ground in order

that pipes may be uniformly supported throughout their length . And

alternative mean of storage to level the pipes on stout timber bearer

not less than 75 mm wide placed at not greater than 1.5 meter center.

5.2 Pipes fittings may be subjected to damage and /or the effects of

Corrosion or weathering if stored for long periods. For this reason

fittings should be stored in sheltered conditions. In such a way that

they are protected from the effect of weathering or accidental

damage.









6. INSTALLATION :





6.0 The site shall be investigated to confirm its ready & safe to start the

installation works.

6.1 Using the latest approved shop drawing check the routing of the pipes

confirm there is no clashing with other services & there is no

obstacles that will affect pipe installation.

6.2 The pipe sizes & quantity shall be then identify based on the latest

Approved shop drawing and shifted to place of installation.

6.3 The pipe shall be thoroughly cleaned made free of dust, oil, grease

& painted with anti-rust paint before installation.

6.4 The pipes shall be connected by means of threading for 1 ½” in pipe

size & larger as per approved material submittals & approved shop

drawings.

6.5 All isolating ,regulating ,drain ,vent valves & strainers shall be

installed in accordance with latest approve shop drawings.

6.6 Temperature ,pressure gauges and other flow measuring or metering

shall be installed in accordance with the latest approved shop

drawings.

6.7 All piping shall be supported by hangers as per approved materials

submittal & approved shop drawings.

6.8 Adequate spacing between supports & hangers shall be maintained

in accordance with latest approve shop drawings.

6.9 The installation shall be done allowing sufficient access to all

strainers, valves and gauges. Sufficient spacing shall be maintained

between pipes for installation.

6.10 Appropriate sleeves ,sealant shall be provided around pipes

penetrating floors, slabs & partitions walls as per approved shop

drawings.





7. PREPARING THE RISER FOR HYDROTESTING :





7.0 Identify the risers pipe work to be hydrotested , check all installation

in floors & shafts are completed.

7.1 Check the location of the isolating valves & double regulating valves

in the ground floor to confirm the pipe connection are ready for test.

7.2 Cap off the pipe at the location of isolating valves using blind flange or

threaded cap according to pipe size.

7.3 To utilize the time of testing its better to test piping for similar flat

from ground to roof. Isolating the risers using end caps or blind flanges

at valve connection for each riser located at the entry of each flat in

ground floor.

7.4 Ensure the riser pipe or section are fully isolated to perform testing.

7.5 Ensure all joints are tighten firmly & all sleeves for partition are in

place.

7.6 On completion of installation the system shall be pressure tested using

water at ambient temperature. At a pressure 1.5 times the operating

pressure for a period of 4 hours.









8. HEALH AND SAFETY :









8.0 All installation works will be undertaken in accordance with TS JV

Safety Rules and Regulation.

8.1 All site personnel shall be provided with personal protective items

like helmets, safety shoes & gloves, safety goggles and shall be worn

at all times at site.

8.2 All site work activities will be kept in a clean and tidy condition.
