1. What is Movie Maker?
Movie Maker easily creates movies with simple drag and drop functions. You can turn most
anything into a movie from still pictures and PowerPoint slides to video clips. You can also use
Movie Maker as video editing software.
2. Where can I get Movie Maker?
It is actually free and you might even already have it. If you don’t auto update windows, First
Update Windows by completing the following:
a. Open Internet Explorer
b. Click Tools – Windows Update
c. Restart Computer
Now you should have Movie Maker Go to start, accessories, Movie Maker.
3. Why would it be used in the classroom?
Did you know that by starting units with a video dramatically increases reading
comprehension? This is especially true with students that are behind in reading comprehension
because it gives them “mind triggers.” Here are some ways it can be used in class:
a. Introduce a new unit with a variety of teacher information, videos, and pictures.
b. Students create a summary of a unit as a test review.
c. Use as an extension to a unit for gifted or lower achieving students.
d. Vocabulary, comic book, the list goes on and on
