At CeBIT 2012 NovaStor presents the new version 4.7 of its data

in Hannover, Germany, data protection specialist NovaStor will present
the new version of its platform and hardware-neutral data protection for
mid-sized companies, data center operators and service providers (hall 2
/ B 60). Version 4.7 offers users and system integrators maximum
flexibility with full support of local and distributed cloud storage
architectures. New features include server and operating system-wide
process control for backup jobs and scripts, snapshot and bare-metal
recovery capabilities, as well as a backup format to optimize the
performance of deduplication appliances.
Individual Processes for Full Availability and Optimal Use of Resources
The complexity of today's IT infrastructure requires a high degree of
automation to keep costs and overhead low. To automate the protection of
individual infrastructures, enterprises need a data backup solution that
seamlessly adapts to the environment. To this end, NovaStor launches a
central process control for server-and platform-wide management of backup
processes with version 4.7 of its enterprise backup solution, NovaBACKUP
DataCenter. This entirely new management functionality allows the
definition of conditions and sequences for individual backup jobs to
assure the smooth operation of company-wide business processes.
The central administration of backup infrastructure supports the dynamic
placement of IT components in decentralized storage or cloud
architectures. At the time of execution, NovaBACKUP DataCenter performs
the intelligent backup process of the selected component, regardless of

A new snapshot feature for NetApp NAS contributes to the goal of backing
up data utilizing minimal resources. New bare-metal recovery capabilities
such as Universal Restore and P2V and V2P, provide support for fast
recovery and enhance the performance of physical and virtual systems,
thereby improving data availability.

With NovaBACKUP DataCenter 4.7 NovaStor introduces a new backup format to
facilitate the reduction of backup data with deduplication. The new
format optimizes deduplication rates and thus enhances the performance of
hardware appliances such as DataDomain. As a hardware-independent best-
of-breed backup technology NovaBACKUP DataCenter 4.7 supports any
deduplication solution and can be flexibly combined with different
devices to create superior data-protection that is uniquely tailored to
